Y/n frowned as she watches from afar, leaning against one of the trees near the camp. Her heart was...conflicted, to say the least. There he was. The man who both stole and broke her heart was right in front of her. Y/n didn't expect to be faced with this situation so soon, she thought it would be a few more years at least.

For those of you who want some backstory, Y/n L/n had gotten romantically involved with a certain lightning dragon slayer some years back. Even when Laxus had his bad moments, she loved him dearly as he did to her.  Everything was going great. Sure they had their ups and downs as any couple would. But it was good. It was a healthy and loving relationship that Y/n was content with. She thought Laxus felt the same. However, she was deeply wrong. There was one thing that proved that.

The Battle of Fairy Tail.

Laxus knew how much Y/n treasured her guild. It was the only family she had ever truly known. It meant everything to her. And Laxus wanted to ruin that, take it away. He obviously didn't care about Y/n's feelings. All he wanted was his own selfish desires to come true. The worst part? He didn't even tell her what he was going to do. He waited until his girlfriend was on a mission to put his plan into action. She had to find out about everything that happened when she got back a few days later. That her lover planned to take over Fairy Tail. How her lover took the entire town hostage. How her lover was kicked out and gone.

At that moment, Y/n didn't know what to do anymore. Laxus was the man she lived with, the man she relied on. And he betrayed her. Betrayed everyone. Now what?

Well, now we're here. On Tenrou Island. Laxus decided to come out of nowhere, Y/n wasn't even sure how he got on the island. Did he have access to a boat? Whatever. That isn't the point. The point is that Laxus is right here. Right now. What the hell should Y/n say? She felt her heart racing, her fists clenched as she looked at the ground.

Y/n heard heavy footsteps make their way closer to her, but didn't bother to look up. She knew who it was. And it only made her heart beat faster. "What do you want?"

She heard a small sigh as the man got closer. "Can we talk?" She heard that familiar, gruff tone of voice ask her.

"Can we? Yes. Are we? No." Y/n said coldly, walking past him as she knocked her shoulder against the others, walking away from the mini-conversation.

That was until a large hand grabbed her wrist, spinning her around. It was then that she came face to face with Laxus. The man who she couldn't seem to stop loving. No matter how much he hurt her.

"Please Y/n, please just talk to me." Laxus said, his voice becoming softer, more vulnerable.

Y/n sighed, biting her bottom lip as she looked up at Laxus. This wasn't a good idea. She knew what would happen. She knew she was falling again. And it terrified her. She shouldn't agree. This wasn't what she should do.

"Fine."

The blonde led the younger mage a bit further into the woods for some privacy, only stopping when he was sure no one could hear them or see them.

"What do you even want to talk about? There's nothing to say." Y/n said with her arms crossed, her eyes looking anywhere but Laxus.

Laxus leaned back against a tree, biting his lip softy. He probably should have thought this through a bit more. He didn't know what to say. All he knew, is that he wanted to talk to Y/n more than anything. He had missed everything about her. Ever since the battle of Fairy Tail he hadn't been the same. He never realized how much he needed that woman in his life until he lost her, and now he would do anything to get her back.

"Y/n, please...I'm sorry. I'm so sorry for everything that happened. It was wrong of me to do what I did. I was in a dark place and messed up. I know that. It hurts me everything I think about it." Laxus said, looking down in shame as his fists were clenched just as tightly as his heart was.

"Laxus.." Y/n sighed, finally looking over at him. "You realize we could have just talked about everything you were feeling. If you wanted changes to the guild, Master would have listened. But you didn't even try. Instead, you betrayed everyone..." Y/n said softly.

She wasn't exactly mad at him anymore. In a weird way, she could see where he came from. She could put herself in his shoes and realize what he was thinking. No, anger wasn't what she felt. Fear is what she felt. She knew how she felt for Laxus. After all of this, that love in her heart stayed there. And that's what she was scared of.

"I know, I know that." Laxus said with a deep sigh as he ran a hand through his hair. "At least I know that now. But back then, back then I just couldn't think properly. The thought of talking with the Master never even crossed my mind. I was just so focused on my own goal the price I would have to pay never occurred to me. But Y/n, please believe me when I say I regret it with every fiber of my being. Y/n I...I don't even know how to describe how much of a hell my life has been without you. I know nothing I say or do will make you forgive me right now. But can this at least be a start?"

Laxus felt his heart beating out of his chest as he asked this question. Hell, his heart has been pounding since he saw his past girlfriend, and honestly, it was starting to hurt a bit by this point. But he didn't care. All he cared about was getting Y/n to at least acknowledge his apology. She didn't have to accept it. He just wanted to be in her life again, even if it was only as a friend. Call him desperate and he wouldn't deny it. He wanted to feel her in his arms again. Wanted to be able to kiss her skin. But he knew that was too much to ask for right now. So he'll settle. He'll settle for anything right now as long as she doesn't flat out reject him.

However, his fears were erased as he saw Y/n bite her lip, trying her best to contain the smile on her face. He knew her well enough to know that she did that when she didn't want others to know when she was happy with something.

Tsundere ass bitch

"I can see that smile you're hiding." Laxus said with a small smile of his own.

"No, you can't shut up."

"I'm literally looking at it."

"Well look at something else then!"

"Oh I know a couple of things I could look at instead."

"Laxus no-"

"You're the one who said look somewhere else, you didn't specify where." Laxus chuckled, his heart finally feeling at ease as he was able to laugh with the one he loved once again.

Maybe things could go back to how they were after all.
