Natsu X Reader X Sting

Ah dragon season. What a time for a dragon to be alive. A time when dragons find out who their fated mate will be. You see, once a year a dragon will go through an experience where they see if they have found their mate. This will happen to them every year until they find their destined partner, and once they do, dragon season will evolve into mating season where they can try and have children if they choose to do so. However, dragon season will only begin when they turn 16, and mating season can only happen when they turn 20.

During dragon season the dragons will do anything and everything to try and find their mate. If their mate is near, then they will be able to sense it and follow their scent. However, if they fail to find their mate then they will have to wait another year. The disappointment of not finding a mate it something no dragon wishes upon anyone. but finding your mate is a lot easier said than done. They could be anywhere in the world. But the satisfaction...the pleasure one gets when they find their mate is said to be all worth it. 

Though, every now and then there are those rare cases in which a dragon does not have a mate. Or a dragon has multiple mates. But that has never truly been proven. Until now that is. 

Meet. Y/n L/n. A female dragon with two mates. Two mates! Sounds crazy I know. People often say "that could never work out" or "just pick one of them". But Y/n could never do that. She loved both her mates will all her heart. And she would never just leave one of them to face the heartbreak of mate rejection. 

So, I bet you're wondering how this came to be. How could a dragon wind up with two mates? Well, here's the story~

Y/n had just recently joined the guild that year as a e/n (element name) dragon slayer. She was still trying to get adjusted to the whole thing, but there was something in particular that comforted the young dragon. The presence of other dragon slayers. There were four in Fairy Tail. A fire dragon slayer, Natsu. An iron dragon slayer names Gajeel. A lightning dragon slayer named Laxus. And a sky dragon slayer named Wendy. Knowing that there were so many others of her kind made her feel much more comfortable. Especially when certain seasons came around...

Speaking of that, dragon season should be coming around any moment now. Y/n just hoped that her mate may be in this guild...

And she was right. Well, partially right. 

One day Y/n walked into the guild hall like every other day. Except this day was special. It was the beginning of dragon season and in this guild there was only one option for a mate. Natsu. Wendy was way too young. Gajeel found his mate in Levy, and Laxus found his mate in Freed. (Sorry, I'm a hoe for fraxus)

 At first Y/n believed dragon's mates could only be other dragons. But she was obviously wrong. 

On the other hand Natsu woke up that morning perkier than usual. He dashed out of bed and got dressed and ran towards the guild hall. Maybe he would pass his mate on the way there? Maybe they would be at the guild? There were a few new members that joined this year, so there was a chance. A small one, but a chance no less. 

Y/n sighed as she rested her chin in the palm of her hand, tears welling in her eyes. No mate. No one in Fairy Tail was her mate. However, in that moment, she felt her heart begin to beat faster. Her cheeks naturally heated up as her breathing became heavier. It was like she was in a daze and only one word came to mind:

Mate

Unknowingly to her another dragon slayer was feeling the exact same thing. And he was right outside the door. 

All the guild member's eyes turned towards the doors as they swung open and revealed a certain dragon slayer. 

"Where's my mate?" He growled, his eyes scanning the area until they met Y/n's.

The dragon slayer made his way towards Y/n, standing right in front of her. Y/n's cheeks heated up as she took a deep breath, looking up at her newfound mate. "H-Hi.." She stuttered, a small smile on her face. She acted shy and flustered, but every part of her being felt amazing. All the rumors were true. Finding your mate was the most amazing feeling in the world. 

However just then the doors burst open again as someone else stormed into the guild. "Sting! Get the hell away from my mate!" Natsu growled, eyes furious as he made his way over to Y/n and the rival dragon. It wasn't unusual for dragons from other guilds to go around and visit other guilds in search of mates in new arrivals. 

"Your mate? Natsu I know you got some screws lose but I didn't think it was this bad. Y/n is my mate. Can't you tell? She has my scent now." Sting said, turning his body towards Natsu. "Got a problem with that?" He asked, lowering his voice. 

"Yeah I do got a problem. You're the one who's lost it 'cause she obviously has my scent." Natsu grumbled, standing in front of Sting and next to Y/n.

"What? That's craz-" Sting began, but quickly shut up as he took a sniff of the air around him. More specifically, Y/n's scent.  

"Wait a damn minute." Sting mumbled, turning his head towards to Y/n to look at her. "Why do you have both of our scents?"

Y/n blinked, looking in between Sting and Natsu. "I-I don't know. Everything about me screamed 'mate' as soon as Sting walked in...but the same thing happened with Natsu walked in too." She mumbled, biting her lip slightly. "Is it possible to have two mates?"

"Two mates? I've never heard of that before." Natsu said, putting his finger on his chin. "But I guess it's not impossible."

"So, let me get this straight. Me and you share a mate?" Sting asked Natsu. 

"I think so. It's the only thing that makes sense." Natsu said and sighed, looking at Y/n. "Right."

"Ya know, I think you're right for once Natsu. Everything is telling me that you're both my mate. Like he said, it's the only thing that makes sense." Y/n said and sighed. "There's nothing we can do about it but accept it."

"But, I don't want to have to share my mate! A mate is supposed to be a dragon's love. Not two dragon's love. How would that ever work?" Sting asked, growling under his breath. 

"I don't know anymore than you do Sting. What I do know is that we can't change this." Y/n said, reaching forward to hold his hand in an attempt to calm him down. 

"But it isn't fair! You're already in Natsu's guild so he'll automatically get to spend more time with you." Sting whined.

Y/n smiled and reached over with her other and to hold Natsu's hand as well. "We'll make it work. I promise. I refuse to reject either one of you." She said firmly, looking in between her two mates. 

Natsu and Sting looked at each other with a small glare, but they both eventually softened up and nodded. "Okay."

And now, the three of them were as close as can be. It took some time to adjust and get used to each other, but after some time it worked. They came up with certain ways and such to get along. Most of the arguments came between Natsu and Sting (as to be expected). 

Though at this point not many arguments happened. Y/n treated both males fairly. If Sting got a kiss, Natsu got a kiss. If Natsu got a cuddling session, Sting got a cuddling session. And on and on it goes.

But the three of them were happy. Every time mates touched each other it felt ecstatic. Like nothing in the world could hurt them. It was basically two times the amount of affection a normal mate would get. 

Yeah it has it's ups and downs. But they wouldn't have it any other way.
