I am at home waiting for Marth to come over. What she doesn't know is that both of my nieces are here too. I may or may not have told my sister I would babysit them for the day. Now I knew Marth was unsure how to care for a child but I can't baby sit both of them on my own so I called her to come over. I soon hear the doorbell and I rush to the door excited but also nervous to see her. I open the door wide and say "Hey babe!🥰" Marth leans in for a quick kiss and walks in. As she's walking in she says "I've missed you so much even though it's only been a few days...why are there kids here?" She changes the tone of her voice from happy to confused in the matter of seconds spotting the kids. "Um soooo these are my nieces and Um I may or may not have promised my sister I would babysit them." I say sheepishly. "You know I'm not good with kids." Marth says in a matter of fact tone. "Have you even tried babysitting?" I question. "Well no but what do I do when they cry?" Marth says a bit panicked. "Hey hey you will do great. Besides it's a bit easier to take care of them now cause you just either ask them what they wanna do or give them options." "Even better for now it's the older one's tv time." I explain calmly. "Ok..what do we do now?" Before I could explain it to her I see my younger niece look up at Marth in awe, she then put her hands up towards Marth. "What...what do I do?" Marth asks looking in between me and the child. "I think she's in awe at how tall you are and wants you to carry her." I explain. Marth then squats down to the kid's level then asks "um how to I carry her correctly." Marth asks and I almost face palm. "Babe..she can walk she's not that fragile..just pick her up like you would to me." I say with a small sigh. Marth then gives me an ohh look and then a smirk knowing I just called myself short. Marth then picks her up slowly still scared of holding a child. The kid giggles at the adrenaline of being so high off the ground. I smile brightly at the sight of my happy niece and my favourite person so happy. "Come on let's go outside and play with some Bubbles!" I say excitedly like a child. Yes I was excited because I have a brain of a child but also I emphasised on the word bubbles because I knew it would catch my nieces attention. I smiled at how her face lit up when she heard it. Instead of putting her down Marth carried her outside. "Hey can you play with her for a bit? I'm gonna go see if I can ask her sister to join us." I say already getting beach into the house. "Um I don't know..and she's gone." Marth said quietly as I already left. Marth sighs and then looks at the kid and says "sooo Bubbles." Marth the looks around to find the bubble mixture and soon finds it. She then carried the kid and pretends she's a spaceship and runs towards the bubbles. The child giggles enjoying being high up and the wind in her face. I smile from inside the house proud of Marth already. I then go to the tv area and ask the older kid if she wants to go outside to play with all of us. She thankfully agrees and we walk hand in hand outside.
After a while of playing with bubbles I could tell the kids were getting tired so we all went inside and I got a snack for all of us. When I was done cutting up some fruit I passed some to the kids and took mine and Marth's share to the living room when instead of finding her maybe on her phone or watching some tv she had fallen asleep. I thought well it was pretty tiring, she deserves this nap for sure. I for one had to stay up to take care of the kids more but knew they would nap soon so I didn't bother to wake Marth. When the kids were done with their snack they came to the living room too. The younger one climbed onto Marth and fell asleep with her and the older one took a nap at the other corner with me.
