Cat

Marthe has been wanting to get a cat for forever. But hasn't planned a day to go out to look for one yet. So today I decided to go to the animal shelter to pick out a cat to rescue. When I get there I see many cats and instantly feel bad and want to adopt them all but know I can't so I told myself to have some self control and only pick one. I got so excited seeing so many cats they were all so cute. And although some were fierce I knew they were probably just scared and defensive. Toward the back of the room I see multiple cages with kittens in them. I go over and put my finger into the cage wanting so badly to pet them. One in particular came towards my finger wary but after smelling my finger started to rub its head against it and purr. Instantly it melted my heart. "Aww hey little guy. I'll be right back I'll go get one of the people that work here." 'Wow I'm talking to a cat..' I thought to myself😂. I went to get one of the employees and ask them if I could hold her and to ask more about her. So turns out the kitten is female and came into the shelter 2 days ago and was known to be shy. When the employee told me this I instantly felt special to this kitten so I asked the employee if I could adopt her on the spot. The employee told me yes so I carried the kitten out of the cage into my arms and she instantly snuggled up to me🥰. 'Omg Marthe is gonna love her' I thought to myself. After I signed all the papers I drove (can't drive irl but for the sake of the story I can drive) to the pet store to get all the cat necessities and lots of toys and treats. I then drove home with the kitten falling asleep on my lap.

When I got home I hid the kitten in my hoodie pocket and thought 'good thing I didn't wear black today' I left the cat necessities in the car first wanting to surprise Marthe. When I got into the house I called out "I'm home!" Loud enough for Marthe to hear me but not too loud to wake the kitten. I hear pounding of feet coming towards me. I know it's Marthe coming to hug me even though I wasn't out for too long. Before she could hug me though I put my hand out as to say wait. She stopped and was confused and pouted saying "Why?" I then tell her with a sheepish smile "I have a surprise for you!" She then smiled wide and asked "what is it?" I then carefully took the kitten out of my hoodie pocket. The kitten woke up and meowed at Marthe. Marthe surprised started to repeatedly say "OMG!" "Calm down off your gonna scare her.😂" I say to her. "Right okok, I'm calm." She tried to say in a calm voice but your could tell she was trying so hard to hold in her excitement. She went to hold the kitten and the kitten climbed to her shoulder and rubbed against Marthe's neck purring. Your could tell Marthe's heart totally melted in that moment. She then started to ask "When? How? What's her name?" "This morning. At the animal shelter. And I waited to surprise you with her before naming her."
