"It's a good day. A lot of our agents are excited for this tournament. I'm glad you thought about this. It's like a rare holiday for them" Alex told me when we were backstage preparing for the announcement of the start of the tournament.
I was asked to give an opening speech for the whole army to motivate them to do their best. Well, I also thought that if they don't give a shit about my little speech, I have a back up plan to motivate them. I asked Jennie to show it later to the crowd and she very much liked the idea.
"After what happened to Jisoo. I think it's only right to give them a breather like this from time to time. Who knows if it ends with Jisoo. Some of them might be feeling the same way or starting to feel that way too. I'm starting to have a life since Jen came, but they're still tied to their jobs 24/7. I guess that isn't fair for them. So, they have Kim Jisoo to thank for this wake up call for me" I told Alex.
"Yes, it makes a lot of sense. This will truly help. But to give you a heads up on where to look at, I bet the one agent you're looking for that fits your standards is my current top agent, Hwang Yeji. Of course, you have to see it for yourself too but that's where I'm putting my bet on" Alex said smiling.
I chuckled, "Hwang has been doing okay for the past days she worked beside me. Let's see if she can keep up. You know I don't just look for skills. Personality is important too because she'll be working real close to me and Jen" I said.
"Well, give her a chance. Personality can be developed. I know she's a bit robotic sometimes but in time, she'll be more..human" she replied laughing.
"Maybe. We'll see. That's also the reason why we prepared a surprise last event, a tough mental and psychological test. Let's see how they handle pressure. Mental stability is as important as skills. It's the foundation of their being" I said.
She nodded. "I agree. You clearly know what you're doing. Now, let's not keep them waiting. Is Miss Kim ready?"
"Yeah, she's just waiting for the signal for her grand entrance. She's too excited she might lose her patience and it will mess up my speech. So yeah, let's start this thing" I said chuckling.
"Good morning ladies and gentlemen! Are we all excited for this tournament? Are you guys ready?" Alex shouted on the microphone. The whole stadium cheered. "Did you prepare for this enough?" she asked and received a loud chorus of yeses. "Well, we will see about that. I'll give the floor to our big boss here Lalisa Manoban. Give your warm welcome to the one who write your big fat paychecks!" Alex said laughing and earning louder cheers from hundreds of men and women.
I chuckled at the last part of her opening remarks.
"Well, she said it. I hope you guys trained hard to show off your skills for the next 3 days. You already know the reason why we are holding this tournament. I'm giving you all equal opportunity to show me your skills. I'll be watching closely. I may not be able to watch your matches in person but I will surely monitor every single match from start to finish, everything will be recorded. I am not only looking for plain awesome skills here, I'm looking for something more special. So, the winner of this competition might not be the one I choose in the end when I deemed another one lacking a bit in skills but have this special thing I'm looking for. So, I advice you all to give it your best shot in every match. Are we all clear?" I shouted. They cheered raising their fists in the air.
