"What should we do today?" Dean asked as he and Cas sat at the couch watching TV.
"I dunno. I'm fine just sitting here with you." He looked up at his lover and smiled.
"We never seem to do anything these days."
"Well, it was your idea to stay inside as often as possible."
Dean sighed. "Yeah, yeah."
"What do you think we should do?"
"I dunno. That's why I asked you."
Cas sighed and gave him a sassy little smile. "Yeah, yeah."
"How bout we just take a walk?"
Cas was strangely surprised to hear this. "Really?"
"Really. Let's take a walk."
They went for a walk through the park near their apartment building, wearing thick layers to protect them from the February chill. They walked side by side, hand in hand.
This drew much attention.
As they walked, some random guy pointed at them and laughed, "Gay!" Or something like that.
"Don't listen to him, Cas," Dean whispered to his boyfriend. "It doesn't matter what he says, right?"
They continued walking, and as a mother and her child walked past, the little girl waved at them. But her mother lowered her daughter's hand, muttering, "Don't wave at them, sweetie." And she ushered her along the pavement.
Cas sighed. "Dean, maybe this wasn't a good idea."
"Don't let them get to you, okay? Don't let them get you down."
They kept walking, until some guy stopped them in their tracks. "God bless you boys!" He shouted cheerily. He looked to Dean, grabbing their intertwined fingers and said, "You hold on to this boy, and show the world that he's yours!"
The boys were a bit weirded out by this, but they couldn't help but smile as the man walked away.
"What do you think it's like for straight couples to take a walk?" Cas asked.
"I dunno. Quieter?"
They both chuckled. They stopped and looked off into the distance to see the most beautiful sunset brimming the horizon. A perfect splash of pink and orange blending with the light blue of the cloudless sky, the sun gently lowering behind the mountain tops in the distance.
"Beautiful sunset, isn't it?" Cas smiled.
Dean looked down at him. "I know I'm enjoying the view."
Cas looked up at him, into his shimmering emerald eyes that he loved with every ounce of his heart. Those were the eyes that he fell in love with. Eyes that reminded him of a meadow, glistening with early morning dew dripping from the blades of grass.
Their lips connected, regardless of who passed by. They were in love, and that's all that really mattered.
They broke apart, Dean whispering, "Happy Valentines Day, Cas."
Cas smiled. "Happy Valentines Day, Dean."
