Real title: Through The Looking Glass

Cas was sitting in the library staring down at a small silver hoop in his hands. He turned it over in his hands, tracing his fingertips along the enochian engraving along the inside.

"Cas, what's that?" Dean asked as he walked in on him.

Cas jumped slightly, but quickly composed himself. "Dean. It's... nothing. It is not of import."

"C'mon, Cas. It's not bad, is it?"

"No, of course not."

"Well, what is it?" He pressed.

Cas sighed lightly. "In heaven, it is known as a gloriole."

"Which means?"

"You would call it a halo."

Dean seemed genuinely surprised. "A halo? A halo? As in... a halo?"

"Yes."

"Oh, I've gotta know about this. What is it, a weapon?"

"Not everything is a weapon, Dean."

"Well, what is it then, if it's not a weapon?"

"It could be used as one, but that is not its significant purpose."

"What's its 'significant purpose' then?"

Cas looked away from him. "I... I've never shown this to any human before. It's forbidden."

"Cas, whatever happened to Team Free Will?"

Cas looked back at him, tilting his head to the side. "I don't understand what you mean.

"Cas, you can trust me. What's the halo for?"

Cas hesitated, unsure of himself. He approached Dean and gave him the halo. "When you gaze upon an angel through the gloriole, or halo, you can see their true form."

"True form? What's that mean, true form?"

"You are aware of the fact that what you see is merely a vessel."

"Yeah, I know, but... what will I see?"

"Just look. Look through the gloriole."

Cas took a step back, Dean staring at him, then back at the halo, then at Cas again. He held the halo up so he could peer through it, and what he saw left him in a state of shock.

His wings.

All he could focus on were the big, beautiful wings, as black as night. He was breath taken.

"Cas...." He let the sentence hang.

"Tell me what you see."

"I see..." He lowered the halo, looking into Cas's eyes. "An angel."

Cas half smiled. "My wings."

Dean nodded. "Cas, they're... beautiful."

Cas furrowed his brows slightly. "Beautiful?"

"Of course they are. I've... I've never seen anything like it."

"No one has ever told me my wings are beautiful."

"Well they are. As beautiful as the angel who owns them."

Cas blinked, unsure what to think. "Pardon?" He gasped slightly.

"You heard me, baby in a trench coat. You're beautiful. Vessel or no vessel."

"I... I don't... what-"

Dean pressed their lips together, forcing him into silence. Cas's hands were at Dean's shoulders, Dean's hands at the angel's waist.

Dean pulled back. "Cas?" He whispered.

"Yes, Dean?"

"Is there any way I could see your wings without the halo?"

Cas shrugged slightly. "I'm not sure."

Dean grinned faintly. "No matter. I still love you. Wings or no."

"I love you too. That's never happened to me."

"Well, there's a first time for everything."

"This is a good first time," Cas smiled. "A very good first time."

"Glad to hear it. And Cas?"

"Yes?"

"There's a bulge in your coat."

Cas furrowed his brows. "Pardon?"

Dean chuckled. "Cas. Your wings."

There was a sudden tear and Cas's wings protruded from his back. This caught him off guard and he whirled around, trying to see what it was.

"Dean!"

"Cas, it's okay! Look at me!"

Dean grabbed him by the shoulders and forced him to look into his eyes.

"Dean, my wings."

"I know. I can see them."

"How?"

Dean glanced at his wings. He slowly reached out to touch one, pausing to glance at Cas for approval. Cas dipped his head once, giving his consent. Dean brushed his fingertips along the sleek feathers, causing Cas to gasp.

"What? What is it?" Dean asked.

"D-do that again."

Dean smirked. "Let's take this to the bedroom, shall we?"

Dean lead Cas to his bedroom and proceeded to stroke his wings on the bed, the angel moaning with pleasure. He bunched up handfuls of feathers in his fingers, listening for the hitch in Cas's breath each time he did so.

"I love you, my sweet Castiel."

Cas smiled. "And I love you, my sweet hunter."
