He awoke in a metal cage of some sort. Where was he? And more importantly, where was Cas?

"Dean." A rough, dehydrated voice spoke from behind him.

He whirled around and saw Cas. The ex angel looked severely injured. Whatever took them must've been pretty gruesome.

"Cas, what's going on? Where are we?"

"Demons," He rasped. "They-they took us. They're... going to kill us."

"No. We can figure this out. We can get out of here. How long have we been here?"

"A day. Maybe two. Dean... they're going to kill us. And if they don't, surely dehydration will." He coughed weakly.

Dean approached him, sitting beside the weakened angel. "We'll be okay, Cas," He held his hand. "We're gonna make it. You'll see."

"Dean-"

"Cas! I promise. Okay? I promise."

"Don't make promises... you can't keep."

There was the sound of a door opening, followed by footsteps. Someone was coming.

"Well, well," A sinister voice spoke smoothly. "The Winchester boy is awake. It's about time. Now we can get started."

"Started with what?" Dean asked.

He could see the demon before him, he was able to see the corners of his lips curl upward into a cold smile. "The tests, of course."

"Sorry, pal. I don't do tests. Just ask any of my teachers, I flunk 'em all." He remained nonchalant, something he was good at even under pressure.

The demon chuckled almost evilly. "Oh no. Not that kind of test. See... we've been mixing up our own little... poison. And I believe you two would make the perfect little guinea pigs."

"I am not any kind of rodent." Cas stated firmly.

Dean sighed a bit. "Cas, that-that's not what he meant. It-" He shook his head. "Never mind."

"Now... who would like to go first?" The demon smirked.

"Dean, I can't let this happen to you." Cas spoke softly.

"Cas, don't you dare. I won't let you do this, you hear me? Look, if I'm out of here, I can find a way to bust you out. If they take me, then I can open a can of whoop ass on 'em. Trust me, let them take me first."

"Whoever said we were 'taking you' anywhere?" The demon grinned, holding up a needle of the demon poison. "We can do this right here. You ain't going anywhere. You can just sit tight and wait to die."

"Dean, I will not let this happen."

"Cas, will you just listen to me? I. Have. Had it. Okay? I am done watching you die! I can't do it anymore, man. You know how many times I have watched you die? Too damn many! If you do this, and I somehow manage to escape, then you're still gone. I wouldn't be able to live with that. Okay? I wouldn't! Don't make me watch you die again. Please, don't make me do that again. Please."

There was a pause as tears ran down Dean's face. Cas wiped them away, finding that small drops fell from his own eyes.

"Dean, I am sorry, but I can't watch you die, either. Because I've seen that one too many times. I'm sorry, Dean. I'm so sorry."

"Hey," The demon chuckled a little. "Here's a crazy thought. How about you both take the poison at the same time?"

Dean looked up at that monstrosity with fire in his eyes. "When I come back, and I know I will, you're dead. You hear me? I'll kill you!"

He chuckled again. "Right. Good luck with that."

"Dean," Cas held Dean's face in his hands, forcing him to make eye contact. "I would gladly die alongside you."

"I know you're trying to make me feel better, but it's really not working."

"Okay," The demon sighed. "If you two are done with this little love fest, I'd like to stick a needle in your necks. Let's just get on with it, shall we?"

Dean looked back at him and stood up. "Fine. Hit me with your best shot."

"Dean...-" Cas's voice broke ever so slightly.

Dean looked down at him. The angel's blue eyes sparkled with tears threatening to overflow. The hunter bent down and helped him up, which was rather difficult since he was so weak. He had to lean on Dean's shoulder to keep from toppling over.

"Do it then." Dean sneered at the demon.

The abomination wasted no time unlocking the cage door and walking in with the poison.

He injected Cas first, causing Dean to quickly look away. And then he was injected, the poison burning through his blood. Both he and Cas collapsed, the poison weakening them right off.

The demon left, leaving the cage door open. "What's the point of locking it?" He grinned. "You're dead already, aren't you?" And he was gone.

Dean looked over at Cas, feeling a sharp pain in his abdomen. He crawled his way over to him, holding him in his stiff, numbing arms.

"Cas," He wheezed. "I'm sorry. I promised myself I... I would protect you. When... when Metatron took your grace, I... I made a promise to my-myself that I'd keep you s-safe."

"Shh," Cas interrupted him. "And you did, Dean. You... you did. But, now... it's our t-time. It's our time, Dean. Our time." He began to trail off.

"Hey, Cas, don't you-don't you die just yet. C'mon, you gotta... you gotta hold on. Just hold on. Don't... don't make me watch you die. I love you, Cas. I love you so much. Please... please. I love you."

"Dean... Dean Winchester... I...-" But his eyelids slid closed before he had a chance to finish.

"Cas?" Dean practically whimpered. "Cas."

He held him closer, listening to his slowing heartbeat, until it stopped.

"You are my sunshine, my only sunshine." He began to sob out a song he knew.

"You make me happy when skies are grey." He kept growing weaker and weaker, but he for some reason had to finish the verse.

"You never know, dear, how much I love you.

Please don't take my sunshine away." The last thing he remembered as he drifted was the sound of his own weakened voice.

"Please don't take my sunshine away."

(A/N: I'MSORRYI'MSORRYI'MSORRY!!! I WARNED YOU ALL SO BAD!!! IF YOU'RE CRYING, THAT'S ON YOU!!

I just needed to get that sadness off my chest. After... Morgan............

So yeah, after that, I might be bi. After all, women are nothing but heartbreakers. So, I'm willing to go either way now.

And this wasn't entirely mine actually. I changed some stuff in it, but this is based on a one shot written by @weirdisinteresting. I think. Is that her username? Idfk.

But if you look in the next chapter, there's nothing but sickeningly sweet fluff. Really. It's too sweet. I think. As I'm writing this, it's not even written yet so XD

Peace Off My Mini Marshminions!)
