James was staring at Lily again. She was... if possible, even more beautiful today.
"Prongs! Oi, mate, snap out of it!"
Sirius called him.
"Hmm?"
He muttered, still distracted by Lily. She was actually talking to him now, provably because they were both Head Boy and Girl.
"I asked, do you want to prank the Slytherins tonight?"
James sighed and turned to face Sirius.
"Nah. I'm just kind of... out of it."
Sirius frowned.
"Evans. It's Evans, isn't it?"
He nodded.
"I just... I don't know. I thought that.... I thought that I just wanted to prove that I could get her to like me. But now I realize, just this year, in fact, I-I need her."
Sirius tilted his head.
"Then tell her."
James looked shocked.
"She's warmed up to you. After you stopped calling Snape Snevillus and hexing people. You've gotten more,"
Sirius gagged.
"Mature. Yeck, that word's not something I ever want to be described as."
James rolled his eyes.
"Don't worry, Padfoot, you're never going to be in the same sentence as that word."
Sirius laughed.
"But really James, you need Lily. Ask her to Hogsmeade. Nicely."
James sighed.
"Worth a shot, I suppose."
Sirius nodded.
"She's like your flower. Flowers only last for a while. Go get your lily before it wilts."
