How can Harry call Snape the 'bravest man he ever knew'?
Snape was good at the start. He may have been a Slytherin, but that's okay.Yes, he was bullied by James and Sirius. But the 'bravest man I ever knew' would not have given in to the darkness. He would not have been 'friends' with the wannabe death eaters. He wouldn't call muggleborns mudbloods. He would have realized that James changed, and instead of hexing him behind his back, he would have faced his fears and forgiven James NOT CONTINUE TO HATE HIM SO MUCH THAT HE TOOK IT OUT ON HIS SON THIS IS NOT BRAVERY OKAY
Brave would have been saying sorry to Lily right then and there when he called her a mudblood. Not just to her, but to everyone else. Not a secret.
Brave would have been choosing Lily over darkness.
Bravery would have been seeing the Lily in Harry, not the James.
Or, seeing Harry, not James or Lily.
Yes, he realized he was wrong, but it was to late. He realized after he had caused too much damage.
We blame Wormtail for James and Lily's deaths, but it was Snape that told Voldemort of the prophecy in the first place. If Snape had never told Voldemort, Voldemort would never have chosen Harry, they wouldn't need a secret keeper, and Wormtail would never betray them.
Yes, Snape was brave in the end, but only because he made too many mistakes that couldn't be fixed and he had to live with then. That is really brave, and what I'm saying is that he is brave, just not the bravest. That title....
Should go to Neville, WHOSE WORST FEAR WAS SNAPE. He faced his worst fear EVERYDAY.
So Snape was brave, but by far not the bravest.
