Another head canon challenge that I haven't done in forever ^-^

The song is "How to Save a Life" by the Fray

It's normally used as a Sirius thing but when you listen to the lyrics other than the chorus it's more Snape and Lily after the fight in the fifth year

Step one, you say, "We need to talk."

Lily cornered Severus in the library a week later.

He walks, you say, "Sit down. It's just a talk."

He tried to walk away but Lily's eyes pleaded with him and he grudgingly agreed.

He smiles politely back at you

Lily knew his smile was fake.

You stare politely right on through

She didn't even smile.

Some sort of window to your right

The sun shone brightly on the lake. Only a week ago that had been the worst day of her life.

As he goes left and you stay right

The conversation veers off topic but Lily sighed and brought back her subject.

Between the lines of fear and blame

They're both afraid of losing their friend. They both blame the other for not understanding.

You begin to wonder why you came

Lily saw this was going no where and wonder "What's the point?"

Where did I go wrong? I lost a friend

Lily knew she did nothing wrong. She can't change her blood.

Somewhere along in the bitterness

Why did James-she meant Potter- have to be so cruel?

And I would have stayed up with you all night

Lily wished she had planned this out more.

Had I known how to save a life

She had no experience in this before. As of that day, the only friend she lost was her sister. She hadn't tried to get her back.

Let him know that you know best

Lily tried to tell him there was no difference between her and all other muggleborns.

'Cause after all you do know best

This was true, after all.

Try to slip past his defense

Severus seemed more guarded when she brought that up.

Without granting innocence

She didn't want him to get angry, but she wanted him to see that he did do something wrong.

Lay down a list of what is wrong

Lily told him everything that was bothering her.

The things you've told him all along

They were things she had said since first year.

Pray to God, he hears you

Severus had no expressions.

And I pray to God, he hears you

She glanced over at the window again and looked towards the sky.
