They didn't deserve to die

All of the characters that died, yes, they didn't deserve to die. But that's war.

And no matter how many times you wish they had lived, the series couldn't be the same with out those deaths.

If James and Lily lived, first of all Harry wouldn't be the Boy Who Lived. He only lived because Lily died saving him.

If Sirius lived, Harry wouldn't have had to go back to the Dursely's. Voldemort could have found him and poof, the series is done. If Sirius lived Harry would never have found out enough about the locket because Kreacher would never just tell Harry anything.

If Remus and Tonks lived, Teddy would have had a normal life. But when they die, Teddy lives the life that Harry should have had. When Remus dies, he sees his friends again. He doesn't have to worry about the full moon. Tonks was too young, but she could never live without Remus

If Hedwig didn't die, Harry wouldn't grow up in a way. Hedwig's death symbolized Harry growing up and losing his innocence.

If Dumbledore didn't die, Voldemort wouldn't attack Hogwarts and there would never be a battle in which Voldemort loses.

If Harry didn't "die" the last horcrux wouldn't be destroyed.

But honestly Fred really could have lived and the series would have been the same. Really.

Sometimes dreams live on long after your death
This chorus of young students with their wands to defend
Dumbledore's Army then a cheer from his friends
We will gladly lose are lives to take this
Take this to the end.
