The only reason I took band when I was in fifth grade was because the grade above me had played on of the Harry Potter soundtrack songs (other than Hedwigs theme) and they sounded amazing but then our band director changed about 4 times and (I now call it Defense Against the Dark Arts)we sound like we're playing a Russian death march. (it was a Russian song and we played it so
s l o w l y.)
I played a duet with my friend in fifth grade (I'm on a flute and she's on saxophone) to Hedwigs theme, and probably the only reason we sounded okay was I had a disk that had all the other instruments playing back up.
List of things that went wrong:
Flute and saxophone in the first place
.
My flute was out of tune
.
It was advanced for our grade level
.
We practiced when my sister had girl scouts
.
And half of that was me trying to stop her from using my flute as a baton
.
The kid with the freakin awesome electric violin who didn't even need to read the music he had memorized it who played a couple numbers before us (he did Hedwig's theme as well) Not to mention he was in second or third grade and we were fifth graders.
