I arrived at the hospital Monday morning to find Bailey pacing back and forth outside of the elevator.

"Dr. Bailey?" I asked as I walked up to her.

"Oh Shepherd. Good you're here. I have something to go over with you"

"Okay" I said walking next to her as we made our way slowly down the hall.

"Blake, Penelope. As the board and foundation member it's your job to oversee her first day in the program. I hope you can understand that. If you need her to be switched just say a word-"

"No that's okay. Where is she?" I asked grabbing the charts Bailey had in hand.

"The resident lounge"

"Great" I said giving Bailey a smile. Once I rounded the corner I let out a breath hoping I had the strength to get through today.

I walked into the room catching almost every resident's attention.

"Blake, you're with me" I said. Wilson and Edwards looked at each other before I walked out of the room. We headed next to the intern locker room.

"DeLuca let's go" I called out. He sprinted out of the locker room throwing on his coat.

We began to walk to the elevator.

"Dr. Shepherd I just want to say it's an honor working-" DeLuca began. I quickly turned on my heel stopping in the middle of the hallway.

"No. Don't do that. Try to butter me up again and you'll be off my service permanently. Got it?" I asked. DeLuca quickly stiffened up and shook his head.

"Good. Let's go we have a simple surgery to perform. Both of you will be scrubbing in" I explained as the elevator door closed.

Penny and DeLuca were proving to be harder to handle than I thought. Penny was doubting herself at every moment, skipping simple steps and forgetting diagnoses. DeLuca on the other hand, was overly confident, trying to impress everyone.

It was the end of their shift just as my pager went off.

"I'll see you two back on my shift tomorrow. The resident and intern replacing you tell them I'll be in the ER, room 3" I explained before sprinting down to the room.

"What do we have?" I asked. Two nurses were attending to the patient.

"Lou came in with a wound to the head" the nurse explained. I began to check his eyes and cut when he went into shock. His body seizing up.

We rolled him on his side waiting for it to pass. Once it was over I went back to reassessing him.

"Oh we need a new gown and bed sheet" I said as I cleaned up his face. The nurse shook her head and exited the room. I rechecked his eyes looking for brain activity.

"I'll be right back" the other nurse said.

"No, rush but when you get a chance can you page Grey or Kepner" I asked. The nurse shook his head as he exited the room. I examined Lou once more before logging his symptoms.

When I turned around I found the patient out of the bed walking around.

"Lou" I muttered placing my hands on his chest. "Lou, you need to lay down. You shouldn't be standing up"

The patient began to resist, cat fighting me as I tried to place him back in the bed. "Lou you need rest" I muttered again struggling to get him to calm down. In a flash aggression took over and I was being forcefully swung around. He threw my body into the window, against the wall and into the baskets. His hands gripped my throat as he pushed me into the cabinets, glass shattering everywhere.

I was fighting to get breath and was slowly losing the battle. After banging me against the walls a few more times I dropped to the floor helpless. Lou, the patient had given up due another seizure.

I watched helplessly from the floor as feet walked by the room. My throat was in so much pain that not a single noise came out.

I waited on the floor until finally someone came in. Their piercing scream was the last thing I heard.

I woke back up to find myself lying down on the table being examined by almost every doctor possible. Their mouths were moving but all I heard was a loud ringing.

Pain shot through my whole body. Suddenly a sharp pain hit my chest and I tried to scream. The scream was more of an excruciating hum.

More doctors came in and suddenly I saw Jackson looming over me. He looked severely panicked but Webber pushed him back.

Edwards moved her finger back and forth and I made sure to follow. I was hoping Amelia would show up soon to proceed with neuro exam.

They all looked over at me as I began to gasp for air. Jackson who looked extremely distraught placed his hands in my mouth before I knocked out from the pain.
