Chapter Eighty

I rushed into the car strapping both babies into their car seats. Alex slide into the passenger seat.

"I'll call you when I find out more" I said to Jackson giving him a kiss on the lips. I jumped into the driver seat throwing the car into drive.

I slowly rolled down to the end of the driveway before adjusting my rear view mirror to see the kids in the back.

"What exactly did they say on the phone?" Alex asked as I sped down the road trying to get on the highway.

"San Diego Hospital called and asked for you and me to come down immediately. She hung up before I could ask anymore questions. Look I bet she's fine" I said. Alex sighed.

"And you had to bring the kids?" Alex asked annoyed.

"Well Catherine was busy at the hospital and had plans tonight plus this was such short notice. Come on, you work in Peds can't hate kids that much" I said giving him a raised eyebrow.

"No just your's" he teased. I jokingly rolled my eyes as I sped down the highway.

After a long drive to the San Diego hospital I walked in with Jacob in the car seat carrier and Alex held Gia's hand.

"Meredith Grey?" I questioned to the nurse at the stand. She flipped through the room assignments.

"Grey, room 235. You can follow me" she said. We walked behind her and waited by the doorway until we were allowed in.

"Your husband is here" the nurse said to a groggy Meredith who was just coming out of amnesia.

"Here that husband" I joked with Alex. He smiled before walking in.

"Hey" Alex greeted.

"Apparently me and Bella are your emergency contacts" Alex explained. I slowly walked into the room instructing Gia to sit on the chair in the corner.

"You had the baby?" Meredith questioned.

"Apparently so did you. Jacob Derek Avery" I said showing off the soon to be six month old baby in the carrier. I placed him down on the empty seat next to the bed.

"Ellis. Her name is Ellis. Did you see her?" Meredith asked us.

"No but I bet she's beautiful" Alex said taking a seat on the end of Meredith's bed.

My cellphone rang, the caller ID displayed Jackson.

"Hello?" I answered stepping outside of the room. Alex kept an eye on the kids.

"Is she okay? Jackson asked.

"Fine. The baby is healthy" I answered.

"Well can't wait to see you when you get back. You did miss my mom asking Richard to marry her at the hospital just about an hour ago" Jackson explained.

"Wow, what a show that must of been. I'll see you tonight. Love you" I said before clicking my cellphone closed. I walked back into the room to see Alex and Meredith laughing.

"Are you coming home? Cause I think we could all really use you" I blurted out. Alex looked at my with a crazed look.

"Yeah. It's time to come home" Meredith answered. I smiled.

Alex agreed to stay with Meredith and help her pack up to move back in a few days. I, however, had to get back home having the kids with me.

"I'll see you in a couple of days. Both of you" I whispered to Meredith and sleeping Ellis. She smiled waving goodbye as we walked out of the room.

Alex helped me but the kids in the car before sending me off.

"I'll see you soon" I said jumping in the front seat of the car.

I walked in to find roses and candles dimly lit all around the house.

"Hello?" I called out. Jackson popped out of the kitchen wearing an apron and oven mitts.

"I'm attempting a home cooked meal but it's looking more like takeout" he said quickly running back into the kitchen.

I placed Jacob down in the crib who had passed out with Gia an hour ago in the car.

I came downstairs kidless to find a severely burnt dinner.

"Happy Valentine's Day?" Jackson cringed. I wrapped my arms around his neck placing kisses on his lips.

"Chinese?" I asked. He smiled grabbing the menu off the counter.
