Chapter Sixteen

I was out of surgery and in my bed still coming off of the anesthesia and pain killers when I saw Addison cross my room.

"Addison" I yelled.

She walked into my room surprised to be seeing me as I was admitted. She grabbed my chart and carefully examined it.

"I'm not pregnant if that's what you're wondering. Plus you didn't need to go tell my boyfriend that, he was all worried"

"Sorry" she responded.

"How did you know dad was the one?" I asked. After all this cheating and fighting going on lately my head couldn't understand how these two feel in love in the first place.

"You know cause my mom and dad knew they weren't meant together but you two seemed to have it figured out when you meet"

"I just knew he wasn't going to hurt me. I need someone like that in my life" Addison said.

"Oh my god, Bella are you okay?" Someone yelled in the halls. It sounded like George was chasing after her.

"Bella baby what happened?" My mom frantically asked as she ran into the room.

"Mrs. Turner" George yelled as he slide into the room.

"O'Malley I have this under control" Addison said.

"Addison it's nice to see you" my mother said grabbing her into a hug. I had told my mom all the details of the events that have been taking place but that wouldn't stop my mom from being nice and greeting someone.

"Nicole nice to see you as well. Bella had her appendix out but she should be just like new in a couple days" Addison said before trying to slip out.

"You know this isn't really my business but why did you cheat on Derek?" Nicole asked Addison but she pretended to not hear her, ignoring her and walk out.

"Hi mom, how do you like Seattle?"

"It's gloomy" my mom said before making herself comfortable in the chair. She was dressed in what she would call comfy clothes which meant heels, jeans and loose blouse.

Being the famous fashion designer she was she always looked stunning.

I had passed out for a little while, awakening to chatter. I slowly opened my eyes to see my mom, dad, Meredith, Mark and Addison all talking in my room.

I listened to their conversation for a minute.

"She's expressed how stressed this situation is making her feel. Just make up and get divorced and sleep with whoever" My mom said.

"I agree" My dad said back. He was probably smiling at Meredith.

"You know dating someone your daughter's age is weird" My mom said back making Mark chuckle.

"You don't have room to speak either. You cheated on your best friend with his wife" my mom sassed.

"I really have to be going" Meredith said as a pager went off.

"Is this a dream? Am I still high on painkillers?" I asked trying to rub my eyes and see if everyone disappeared.

"Hey, how you feeling?" My dad asked as he stroked my hair out of my face.

"I feel fine, why is there a like a meeting going on in my hospital room?"

"Don't worry the adults were just hashing things out" my mother cooed. She forgets how old I am sometimes.

"Feel better kid" Mark said as he ruffled my hair and walked out.

"It was nice seeing you Nicole" Addison said as she left.

"Well look who's left my parents, who I love so much" I exclaimed.

"She must be high still" my dad joked. He pulled up a chair next to my mom as they were positioned at the foot of my bed.

"I just want you to know you can talk to me about how you're feeling. I'll always be dad first, doctor second"

"Yeah I know"

"So have you met her boyfriend yet? One of her fellow interns had all of us thinking she was pregnant this morning" My dad said to my mom who raised an eyebrow.

I told her about Alex and my feelings toward him but haven't gotten around to telling her we were together.

"No I haven't met him yet. I didn't even know she was dating someone" my mom said giving me the eye.

"Oh I can page him if you want" my dad said with a smug smile.

"Do we really need to do that. Can't I just relax for a day and then we can do the whole family dinner introduce boyfriend thing" I sighed knowing my parents would say no and do things the unconventional way. They always do things the unconventional way.

"Yes page him. I'd like to meet this young man"

A few minutes later and Alex walked into the room.

"Dr. Shepherd you paged me?" He asked confused at the scene in front of him.

"Pretend like your doing rounds. Tell me about the patient" my dad said elbowing my mom with a smile.

"Um okay. Patient's name is Isabella Shepherd had appendix removal surgery and is now five hours post op" Alex said as he placed the chart down.

"Very well done doctor. Nicole Turner, Bella's Mom" my mom said standing up with her arm extended out for a handshake.

"Alex Karev-"

"Her boyfriend, I'm aware. Bella you did good"

"Well it was nice meeting you but I'm on Sloan's service now and he has me doing coffee runs" Alex said

"Karev, don't let Mark boss you around" my dad said

"I'll try" was all Alex said before sprinting out of the room.
