"Dr. Crawford this is my daughter. You must remember Isabella" my dad introduced. I smiled standing behind him. I vaguely remembered Helen Crawford from NYC.

"Isabella Shepherd you're much bigger than I remember" she said in her heavy accent. My dad has been removing parts of her tumor every year or so for a while now.

"You're going to remove the part and then I'll be done" she said catching my dad and I's attention.

"If you don't come back you'll just die" my dad explained to her.

"I know. I plan on spending my life savings along with the rest of my time on the beach" she explained. My dad sat down on the edge of her bed.

"I won't let you do that. Bella run some scans and tests. I want to see Helen is a viable candidate for a blastoma. I'm hoping we can remove all of it and you live a long life" my dad said. I quickly left the room to run the scans and tests he ordered.

On my way back I ran into the one person I wasn't looking forward to seeing.

"Professor Marlow" I said shaking his hand as he wandered around the hospital.

"Ah if it isn't the star student from Harvard. You gave me a run for my money at the lecture I spoke at right?" He asked.

"Yes sir. It was an amazing talk" I said trying to cover my ass. I heard he was being considered as the new chief of surgery for Seattle Grace.

"Well it was nice seeing you" he said before scurrying off.

"Did you sleep with him too?" George asked as he approached me.

"No, worse! I proved him wrong at his own lecture. He was not happy with me" I said before excusing myself to find my dad.

"I have the scans and tests. Dr.Crawford is the perfect candidate for a blastoma. You think you'll be able to get it all out?" I asked. He sighed.

"I have to be confident in my choice" he said before getting up and leaving the office.

"By the way. I can't help you move in tonight. Meredith is having dinner with her dad"

"It's okay" I said. I knew Meredith didn't have a relationship with her dad and this was a big step for her. It was only fair my dad went to support her and be by her side tonight.

I wandered out of the office to find the two next best people.

"Okay here me out. I'll buy take out Chinese and wine if you both help me move into my apartment tonight" I said shutting my eyes hoping they would say yes.

"What happened to your father helping you?" Uncle Mark asked. Addison elbowed him.

"I'm in" she said smiling.

"I'll help too I guess" uncle Mark said making me jump up and hug them.

"I love you both" I exclaimed as my pager went off. My dad had paged me to the OR to scrub in on the surgery.

"Marlow is watching?" I asked as I scrubbed in. My dad drying her freshly cleaned hands.

"Yeah I asked him to come watch"

My dad headed inside getting dressed for the surgery. I dried my hands before doing the same.

"Dr.Shepherd you let interns scrub in on these type of surgeries?" Marlow asked over the intercom.

"Yes we are a teaching hospital after all" my dad responded. "Ten blade" he said. Just as my dad was about to finish up Dr.Crawford went into distress and my dad had to cut open her chest.

He was able to save her but it was a risky move.

"Stitch her up Isabella" my dad said as he left the OR. I've never heard of my dad leaving before the patient is ready to head back to recovery. I, however, didn't question it and did as I was told. Once I was finished I scrubbed out and went to find my dad.

"Are you okay?" I asked pulling my scrub cap off.

"I just cut my friend open. I'll be fine" my dad snapped. I stepped back not sure why he had a sudden mood with me.

"I'm going home" I said turning around and heading to the locker room. I quickly got changed before heading to my empty apartment where I began to unpack.

An hour later the door bell rang. Mark and Addison both on the other side.

"Bella this is such a cute place" Addison said as she walked around the still empty and quite messy apartment.

"The view is the best part" I said showing her the view from my balcony. The bay reflecting the sunset was just so picturesque.

"Okay let's get these boxes unpacked" Mark said.

We all worked hard unpacking everything I had brought in just two hours. I ordered the Chinese and pulled out the wine in celebration.

"So where's Derek?" Addison asked.

I twirled some chow mein onto my fork. "He's at Meredith's. She's having some family dinner or something" I said. We continued to eat and talk throughout the night. Around 10 o'clock they both left leaving me alone. It was weird finally having a place to call my own but I was looking forward to it.
