I walked into the hospital flustered and tired. I had no sleep last night due to my racing thoughts. On top of that Jackson had left early to sort out the rest of the foundation's papers so I was left doing everything this morning.

I was already an hour into my shift keeping my body alive with caffeine.

I was heading to deal with a patient's parents who were unaware of the treatment their son received.

"I have to ask you a question" Webber said rushing into the elevator.

"Go ahead" I said before letting out a yawn.

"Would you stand up for the hospital or the board? What happened to Yang is unfair and we are looking to file an appeal. Which side are you on?" Webber asked.

"I won't be answering that" I said as the elevator doors opened. I did not need this at the moment.

Yang was leaving for Zurich according to Meredith. I could tell Cristina was going to be announcing it shortly. That meant Jackson would have to fill her seat on the board and find a new cardio replacement.  The drama is never ending.

I headed into the Peds ward to find Jackson already talking to the parents.

"Dr. Avery I haven't held my son in months and I want him to come out but for all we know, she could be making up numbers to cover her ass" the mother said.

"Yeah we cant trust that it's safe. I mean what if we get him home and something happens?" the father continued.

I was waiting for a good time to join the conversation.

"You know what? I understand your concerns. What I'm saying is the if the labs show-"

"Are you a parent Dr. Avery?" The mother asked sounding slightly more agitated than before.

"I am, I have a beautiful daughter" Jackson said making my heart swoon.

"Well, if someone did this to you, your child. How would you react?" She asked.

"I'll go ahead and run some labs for you myself" Jackson said.

I took this as the opportunity to join in.

"Hi my name is Dr. Shepherd. I heard there was some concern with the treatment your son received?" I asked.

"I'm running the labs now" Jackson whispered.

"I over heard the question you asked Dr. Avery. If this was my daughter I would want a doctor to fight for my child the way Dr. Bailey did. She knew the medicine had hope" I said. Jackson wasn't looking pleased with my answer.

"She could have killed our son" the father said.

"You take a chance with coming here. You look for medical advice when you step in this hospital. I understand you may not agree with the doctor but it's the doctors job to fight for their patient."

"Going behind our back's. I'm going to make sure she loses her license"

"Enough" Jackson said grabbing my arm lightly.

"Just think if your son didn't get the treatment he wouldn't have improved. You would have felt guilty and thought what if we did it" I said before leaving the room.

"Dr. Shepherd that was extremely inappropriate" Jackson said just outside the patient's room.

"Just one mom to another" I said before walking away. I knew I was going to be facing consequences for talking to patients like that.

I left the Peds wing heading to the gallery to watch the separation of the twins.

Amelia was here to help and had been staying with Meredith and my dad but I could tell she was looking for a position here. I didn't want to have to battle two other neurosurgeons for surgeries. Plus having three Shepherds could be quite confusing.
