"Good morning, each of you comes here today hopeful, wanting in on the game. A month ago, you were in med school being taught by doctors. Today you are the doctors. The seven years you spend here as a surgical resident will be the best and worst of your life. You will be pushed to the breaking point. Look around you. Say hello to your competition. Eight of you will switch to an easier specialty. Five will crack under the pressure. Two of you will be asked to leave. This is your starting line. This is your arena. How well you play, that's up to you" The chief of surgery said as we walked into an empty operating room.

I looked around to see my competition, I had quite a target on my back as being the youngest person here. I was only 24 when most of these people were at least 26 or so.

We continued on with the tour ending in the locker room. We quickly got changed for our 48 hour shift.

"Hi I'm George O'Malley" a boy with shaggy hair greeted. He looked nervous, nerves are the worst thing to have as being a doctor.

"Isabella" I said not wanting to exchange my last name. Bragging or boasting that you're related to a famous doctor will only make you hated more.

"Isabella come with me" Chief Webber called out. All eyes settled on me as I excused myself.

"Miranda this Derek's daughter Isabella. She's one of your new interns I hope you'll treat her well" Chief Webber said before leaving me.

"Nice to meet you" I said extending my hand out.

"Don't think because you're some daughter of some surgeon you're going to get special treatment" Bailey said.

"I would never, I'm looking forward to learning from you" I said as the others came over.

"Okay I have five rules that you must follow. One don't bother sucking up, I already hate you. Two answer your pagers at a run, a Run. Your first shift starts now and will last 48 hours" Bailey instructed as we cruised through the hallways.

"Rule three of I'm sleeping don't wake me unless the patient is dying. Rule number four the dying patient better not be dead when I get there because you would have woke up for no reason. Are we clear?"

The girl next me raised her hand. Bailey shot her a look to ask the question.

"You said there are five rules but that was only four"

Suddenly the Bailey's pager went off and we began to run through the hallway.

"Rule number five when I move you move"

We all chased after Bailey who was paged to the roof where an emergency med evacuation was being delivered. We brought the gurney up and loaded the patient onto it before bringing her to a room.

The young teenager by the name of Katie Brice was experiencing seizures. We began to push medication through her veins to control the body movement. As her body began to relax a surgeon walked on.

"A wet fish on dry land?"

"Yes Doctor Burke" Bailey responded. Dr. Burke ordered every test imaginable and Bailey left Meredith to tend to her.

"Stevens your on rectal exams and Isabella you're with me" Bailey said.

Christina Yang a highly competitive doctor looked pissed that she was running blood work to the lab.

"You will be transferring all my notes to these folders" Bailey said handing me a stack of patient charts and stuff.

I smiled and walked over to the desk, trying to chart the information as fast as possible.

"Enjoying your first day?" My dad asked as he leaned over the counter.

"Yes now shoo I don't want people thinking I know you or anything" I said swatting him away. He smiled before walking away to talk to another doctor.
