*since my ending received much backlash I decided to post another ending. Hope this is better and sorry to disappoint! I thought up a new ending hoping to redeem myself with those who were disappointed*

"Good morning, each of you comes here today hopeful, wanting in on the game. A month ago, you were in med school being taught by doctors. Today you are the doctors. The seven years you spend here as a surgical resident will be the best and worst of your life. You will be pushed to the breaking point. Look around you. Say hello to your competition. Eight of you will switch to an easier specialty. Five will crack under the pressure. Two of you will be asked to leave. This is your starting line. This is your arena. How well you play, that's up to you" Meredith said to the new interns who were starting their residency today. Grey was the new chief of surgery after Bailey had retired from that position. She instead choose to take it easy.

I watched from the gallery as the interns looked around amazed. I sat hunched over biting my nail nervously.

"Okay let's head to the locker room" Meredith said. I watched as Gia talked with the others, giving the OR one last glance before following the others.

I sat quietly in the gallery hoping Gia would be fine. She was quite sensitive and I feared she'd be chewed up and swallowed by the others.

"I thought you promised her no stalking?" Jackson asked. I jumped from my seat, surprised to hear a voice.

"I'm not stalking just checking up" I reasoned grabbing my pager off the seat next to me. I fixed my lab coat as we walked out of the room and down the hall.

"She's not five anymore Bella, you need to let her thrive or fail.  Either way she'll be fine" Jackson said. I sighed knowing he was right. However, I was her mother. I could just let her fall and not be there to catch her.

"Just leave her alone. Please?" Jackson begged walking backwards down the hall.

"I'll try" I said. I walked down the hallway peek around the corner to find all the interns talking amongst themselves.

"What's your name?" One of the guys asked.

"Gia" she responded.

"Got a last name?" He asked.

"Not that important" she said. I smiled internally. We had talked about making a mark of her own, not riding off of mine and her dad's merit.

"Oh she's got a parent who's a surgeon" the guy responded.

I was about to jump out and come to her defense when a finger tapped on my shoulder.

"Jackson told me to come find you. Something about a fake Neuro consult to get you away from Gia" Zola said grinning.

"Fine" I sighed looking at her. We walked down the hall talking about the new intern gossip.

"Don't forget you were an intern two years ago. Zo just promise to keep an eye on her" I begged.

Her pager went off and she head back down the hall.

"I'm the cool aunt" she called out before sprinting down the hall. I sighed knowing everyone but me was letting Gia flap her own wings.

"I need a neuro consult" someone called out. I rushed over to the patient, forgetting about Gia and  began worrying about saving lives.
