My mom had went to meet a client for lunch leaving me with some peace and quiet... or so I thought.

My dad knocked on the door with a sad look on his face. He sat on the side of my bed facing me.

I scooted up to be seated in the bed.

"Careful" my dad said as he squeezed my leg.

I smiled trying to soften the sad mood.

"I'm sorry for hurting you, and when I tell you this I don't want you thinking that you were the sole influence in my choice. I told Meredith to be with Finn, he's the better guy"

"Dad-"

"No, just listen, I'll be okay, I'll be happy, she's better off. I don't want to hurt her or you. It's good I now get worry just about you"

"I want you to be happy" I responded

"I know, I also came to tell you I'm divorcing Addison"

He looked for once like he was sure about his decision, that he was finally at peace.

"If it was something my mom said you don't have to listen to her" I rambled. I was being to feel guilty for having ever told my mom the problems that were going on in the first place. She had a tendency to stick her nose in places she shouldn't.

"Hey, Hey, calm down. You're going to give yourself a panic attack. I'm sure about my decision and it was a decision I made myself. Now I came to ask if you want anything specifically so I can ask for it in the divorce" my dad said calmly.

"No, just want you both to be happy" I said with a smile. He leaned over and hugged my placing my head on his shoulder.

"I came to the sign the discharge papers too" my dad said.

"Thank god, I hate being a patient"

We both shared a laugh before he got off the bed. Just as he was about to exit the room I decided to ask him something.

"Dad, you won't be mad if I still want Addison in my life right. I mean I see her as a second mom" I softly asked.

"No, I think that would be great. She needs someone by her side"

Alex drove me home after his shift. We walked in to find Izzy happy, cooking away.

"Oh my god, Bella you're back. How do you feel want some dinner?" Izzy asked.

"No I'm good, how are you?"

"Feeling like a million bucks, wait actually 8.7 million"

I looked at her strangely not understanding. She lifted a check from Denny Duquette that was written out to Izzy for 8.7 million dollars.

"Oh Izzy, you should deposit that immediately" I said examining the check.

"I know, I'm going tomorrow"

George and Meredith walked in a few minutes later.

"Oh hey" Meredith said to Alex and I.

"I'm just going to go upstairs and relax. I'll see you guys in the morning" I said grabbing Alex's hand and bringing upstairs with me.

I crawled onto the bed sitting to face Alex.

"So my dad is divorcing Addison for good, but, uh don't tell anyone until he does" I said.

"I won't. So is you're mom still in town?" Alex asked.

"Yeah but she leaves tomorrow morning. It was nice seeing her but I think we have a better relationship on the phone than in person, I mean the only time she's free is when she has the opportunity to answer the phone"

"She seems nice, she really cares about you too"

"Yeah, they all do. Mark won't admit it but he cares for me too. So you want plastic right? I'll talk to him tomorrow for you"

"Yeah that would be nice" Alex said.

The next morning I returned to the hospital to work my first shift since my surgery.

"Welcome back Bella. Everyone I want you to attend the M&M meeting in 15 minutes" Bailey said.

"Even if we aren't finished with rounds" George asked

"Yes even if you aren't finished with rounds"

"Cool" Alex exclaimed.

"Um, Karev this is a meeting for surgeons to evaluate the death of patients from the last month. Nothing is cool about it" Bailey sternly expressed.

"Okay George and Alex get good seats, Meredith, Bella and I will get snacks" Cristina said.

"Aren't you guys nervous about this?" I asked Meredith and Cristina.

"No this is surgeons going head to head blaming each other for the death of a patient"

"Cristina that one day will be us" Meredith said.

Cristina shrugged off Meredith's comment and headed for the vending machine. A few minutes later and we all meet back for the meeting.

"Okay let's start with patient #34589" Chief Webber said. We all exchanged a look of worry as the patient being discussed was none other than Denny Duquette.
