I rummaged through my old scrubs to find they looked extremely dingy and dated.
"Uh" I huffed loudly.
"You okay?" Jackson asked popping out of the bathroom with a toothbrush in his mouth.
"My scrubs look so old. I should have bought new ones" I said slightly upset. Jackson had a smile creep up on his face. He ran into the closet and pulled out a wrapped present.
"What's this?" I asked.
"Just open it" he said
I unwrapped the present to find fresh new navy blue scrubs in the box. I quickly wrapped my arm around his neck and placed a kiss on his cheek.
"Thank you thank you thank you!" I whispered into his ear.
"I figured you'd need something new"
I quickly got changed into the new scrubs while Jackson finished up in the bathroom. When he came out I asked him his opinion.
"How do I look?" I asked Jackson as I spun around the mirror in our bedroom. Putting on scrubs in a few years really boosted my confidence.
"You look amazing" Jackson said planting kisses on my cheek and neck.
"Why am I nervous? It's not like I haven't seen these people. I was there a couple weeks ago for the a meeting and an evaluation"
He placed his hands on my shoulders and looked me through the mirror's reflection. "You got this. Everyone is excited to see you"
"Great more pressure now" I muttered. I grabbed my work bag which contained my pager, ID, papers and important stuff for the board meeting tomorrow and my scrub cap.
"Ready?" Jackson asked standing in the doorway of our bedroom.
"Ready!" I said confidently. I headed downstairs kissing the kids goodbye. Catherine had offered to watch the twins today and send the Gia and Jacob off to school.
"Thanks again Catherine"
She smiled before ushering the kids to their rooms to get changed for school. Jackson hopped into the driver seat and I in the passenger. I took in the sights of Seattle from the bridge, slowly leaving the forests and nature for the hustle and bustle of the city.
I had been so in my own world that I didn't even notice Jackson had parked the car.
"Come on. Don't want to be late on your first day back" Jackson joked. I swatted him with my bag not appreciating the joke. He knew how nervous I was and his little jokes weren't exactly helping this moment.
"Oh lighten up. You already did a surgery a week ago. Not to mention the coolest surgery ever"
"You're right. I'm fine. It's just another day" I said showing my badge as we walked through security. We headed up the elevator and when the doors opened I was met by everyone.
"Surprise" Meredith said looking around at all the people. Everyone had gathered to welcome me back.
"Glad to see your back" Bailey said with a smile.
"Welcome back" Hunt greeted. Everyone welcomed me back to work before heading off to do their own jobs.
"Dr. Shepherd you have a neuro consult in room 3428" a voice said behind me. I smiled at the sound of my name being said and the purpose I held. Adrenaline flowed through my veins as I looked at the nurse.
"Thank you" I said grabbing her chart.
"Oh and welcome back" she said as she walked back to nurses station.
I began to head down the hall when a loud voice yelled "we got a code blue". I sprinted towards the patient's room running into action. Before I could enter everything went black. I opened my eyes to be met by a bright light. Doctors standing all around me.
"Isabella Shepherd? You're at Seattle Grace"
"What happened?" I asked trying to sit up more in the hospital bed.
"You collided with another doctor pretty hard when you were running through the halls"
I opened my eyes and looked around to find a young version of everyone. George and Izzie were standing in the corner. Alex was checking out my pulse while Meredith stood next to Bailey. Christina was hovering towards the doorway waiting to bail any minute.
"Am I in heaven?" I whispered to Webber who looked at me funny. "Where's Jackson?"
"Jackson?" Meredith asked looking at the others.
"Yeah Jackson. April too?"
"Order a heat CT. Look Isabella you took a hard fall today. Relax"
Webber and Bailey walked out leaving the others in the room by themselves.
"Bella?" My dad called out. I literally did a double take and almost began to cry at the sight of him.
"Meredith?" My dad said stopping by my bed.
"Derek. You're a doctor" Meredith awkwardly said.
"Surgeon. Neuro actually"
"You're the new Neuro from New York? Dr. Shepherd correct?" George asked. My dad flashed his cheesy grin.
"Bella how are you?"
"Fine dad" I muttered. Everyone got extremely quiet in the room at the sound of him being my dad. I was confused as they all knew.
"I'll come visit you later" he said kissing the top of my head before excusing himself.
"Dad? Woah when we're you going to tell us that?" Alex asked.
"It's our first day Alex. I doubt she owes us an explanation and a history of who's she related to" Izzie said coming to my defense.
"First day? You two aren't married?" I asked.
"Married?" Izzie said outraged. Alex cracked a cheesy grin at her.
"Wow I must have had the weirdest and longest dream ever. You and Alex were married. Meredith and my dad got married and had kids. Christina left Burke at the alter and ran to Switzerland"
"And me?" George asked.
"You married Torres who turns out to be gay. Then you died, heroically none the less"
"Awww man" George huffed.
"Let's go! I need interns now!" Bailey shouted as she peeked her head into the room. The four of them quickly ran out following Bailey. I laid back into the bed amazed at the vivid and crazy dream I had.
