4:55 in the morning and the pager on my nightstand began to buzz. I rolled over still half asleep to see Bailey calling us in early and that I was on her service today.

Instead of getting another 30 minutes of sleep I decided to get up and start the day early.

I walked into the hospital in quite a good mood with my coffee in hand.

"What is with Bailey needing us on her service?" Izzy asked.

"I have a feeling today's gonna be a good day" I said just as Bailey walked in. Immediately everyone began to jump at Bailey trying to get off her service and onto the ones they wished to be on.

"Good morning. Today is not about you. It's not about the services you wish to be on. It's not about your careers. This is about me. This is a project I've been working on for a long time and it's very important to me therefore it will be very important to you" Bailey began instantly shutting everyone up.

"We need everyone to work together to make this happen. So today you are not 15 doctors but one team. Is everyone clear on that?" Bailey asked.

Everyone shook their head yes unenthused by her answer. Bailey turned back around and continued walking to through the hospital.

"Why would they need so many doctors for one surgery?" Meredith asked in a hushed tone.

"Because it's not just one surgery. It's 12 surgeries" Bailey said opening to the doors to the clinic. Inside was many patients and their family members gathered around.

"6 kidney transplants in 6 O.Rs. All at the same time" Bailey announced.

"A domino surgery" I commented. Bailey smiled.

We each were assigned to a patient who was receiving a kidney and was also responsible for attending to their family member who was donating one as well.

After charting both patients stats I headed to Bailey to check in.

I knocked on the door to find Bailey pacing about looking crazed at the chart.

"Bailey?" I asked.

"What?" She yelled.

"I just came to update you that both the patient receiving and donating is in stable condition and is ready to be prepped" I said.

"There will be no surgery because Mr.Mercer's mistress decided to tell his wife about the affair and now she has decided to back out. Thus causing others to back out as well" Bailey raged.

"I can call around for another match if you need" I offered.

"Grey should be in touch with U.N.O.S as we speak. Let's just hope she can find a match ASAP" Bailey said.

I closed the door behind me heading to the lunch room. I grabbed a meal before sitting down with the rest of the group.

"So Shepherd which intern are you willing to give to O'Malley?" Yang asked. In her hand was a large yellow notepad with the names of the interns. I looked up to see them all lined up in front of us.

"I'll give up number two. He doesn't shower" Yang commented.

"Garcia doesn't know how to draw blood" Izzy commented as well. The faces of the interns looked sad and embarrassed.

"Guys this is humiliating" I said trying to get Alex and Meredith to fall behind me on this one.

"I agree with Dr. Shepherd. You know we can hear you right" Lexie commented. Yang let out a laugh.

"So Isabella which one of your interns are you giving up?" Yang asked. I chomped on my salad ignoring the question for the second time.

Just as lunched finished up we were all paged to head up to the OR to continue with the surgery.

"Mrs. Mercer has agreed and so we continue" Dr. Bailey announced. "Each bag is color coded as for you not to get confused or mixed up"

We each headed to our respective ORs where we extracted the donor kidney before surgically transplanting it.

An hour later I was done and scrubbing out. The surgery was a success for Mr. Wallens.

"I dropped the kidney" Meredith said to Yang and I.

"On the floor?" I asked not sure I was understanding.

"I dropped the kidney" Meredith repeated.

"Hey it happens calm down" Cristina said trying to make Meredith feel better. Webber walked out of the OR giving Meredith a look before heading the other way.

Just then my dad walked up to us probably to talk to Meredith. I hadn't seen him since he was published and decided now was the best time to congratulate him.

"Congrats on the cover and on being published" I said giving him a hug.

"Bella did you read it? I mentioned you once or twice in there" my dad said making Meredith roll her eyes.

"Yes, thank you" I said softly.

"You mention her but you don't mention the person who helped you?" Meredith shouted

My dad rolled his eyes before turning to face her.

"She's my daughter. You're my girlfriend. Look you'll make a good maybe even great surgeon one day. But you have so much to learn" my dad lectured before kissing her on the cheek and walking away.

"I didn't ask for the recognition and I think you deserve it" I said.

"I need a drink" was all Meredith said before her and Cristina walked away.

I headed to the locker room, clocking out and heading back to my apartment. Just as I was cooking dinner I heard a knock on the door.

"Dad?" I said as I opened it.

"I wanted to drop this off. Heard you removed a kidney all by yourself" he said displaying a jar with a kidney in it.

"How did you get one?"

"I have connections"

"Thank you" I said grabbing the jar and hugging him.

"I have to go I need to apologize to Meredith and give her the other jar as well" he said with a smile. As he walked back down the hall I closed the door and carried the jarred kidney to the dining room table.
