I had just gotten off a 12 hour surgery and had just gotten back to the apartment when the phone rang.

"I'll get it" Jackson called out from the kitchen. He was making some dinner before I headed to bed.

"Bella it's for you" he called out once more. I exited the bedroom dressed in sweats and T-shirt.

"Hello?" I asked looking at Jackson for some indication on who was callling.

"Bella?" My dad said on the other line.

"Oh dad hey. Look I just got in can I call you back in an hour" I said with the phone balanced in-between my shoulder and ear as I threw my hair up into a pony.

"Okay but Zola wants to say hi first" he said into the phone.

"Hi Zola" I said unconsciously. I had then hit me.

"Wait you guys have Zola? Oh this is amazing" I said.

"I'll let you go" my dad said before hanging up the phone.

"I'm a big sister" I said to Jackson jumping in his arms. While this seemed childish I meant a lot. Growing up I was an only child, dying for a brother or sister to call my own. As I got older I knew that was never going to happen and just stopped wishing.

As the weeks passed Zola began to walk and talk. Each day achieving more and more milestones in her toddler life.

Her birthday party was in a few days and Meredith and my dad were going extremely crazy trying to plan this whole thing.

"Everyone got the invitations correct?" Meredith asked. I had offered to help.

"Yes and everyone will try to make it" I said. As surgeons we know how difficult it can be, getting away from the hospital.

"Okay. Can you pick up the cake before you and Jackson come over?"

"Yeah. Meredith it will be fine. Zola won't even remember it" I said. Meredith blew out a breathe of relief before heading back to work.

"What now?" Jackson asked I approached him.

"Nothing we just need to pick up the cake before we go tonight" I said. He rolled his eyes before giving me a kiss.

"I have to go. I'm going to watch Webber's 10,000th surgery. Want to come?" I asked. Jackson looked at his watch.

"I can come for an hour" he said. I grabbed his hand and we headed to the viewing gallery. When we walked in I found Adele singing to Webber. Kepner was crying in the corner.

"What's the matter?" I asked. Kepner kept quiet.

"We're getting married" Adele said to Webber. In that moment I knew.

We all stood their helpless. Nothing we said or did was going to change Adele's mind. She was stuck in the past.

Once she was finished Kepner took Adele to back to her bed and Webber finished up the surgery. I headed to the break room getting changed before heading to the store for the cake.

Jackson and I arrived a few minutes after the party began and everyone had seemed to be able to make it. Even Webber who I assumed would have been with Adele.

"Meredith the cake" I said placing it down on the counter. Written on it was Yay Zola in blue frosting.

"I was thinking. Would it be so bad to give it to Webber?" She asked.

"No like I said she won't even remember"

Meredith took the Zola part of the icing off and lit one singular candle before bringing it out to Webber.

"It's only once you celebrate 10,000 surgeries" my dad said. Everyone clapped and Webber blew out the candle.

Few hours passed and I was grabbing a drink when Callie came up to me.

"I see how you look at her?" She said.

"What?"

"You have baby fever. The way you look at Meredith holding Zola. I can tell" she said nudging me.

"Uh, I want one, yeah but after what Jackson's mom said. I just can't shake that either. I'm happy with Jackson don't get me wrong. I'm just in no rush to marry him. It's not like I need to do it tomorrow and it's not like we need to do it to prove our love for each other" I said.

"Hey, she'll get over it" Callie said before walking away.

Webber came up to me whisking me away from any baby thoughts.

"You know with Meredith being busy with Zola now. I think you have a great shot being the lead surgeon in group. Especially with Neuro as your specialty" Webber whispered. I smiled at him.

"Thank you sir"

"I mean don't get distracted now with boards coming up. You're gonna need to be 100% focused" he said.

My heart began to crumble. Webber was right, baby thoughts were for the future. If I wanted to be a neurosurgeon I needed to stay focused.

"You ready to head out?" Jackson asked. I shook my head and said goodbye to everyone.

The car ride was quiet until Jackson said "Zola is so cute"

"The cutest" I responded leaning my head against the window. I just needed to stay focused.
