I once again was on ER duty, something I didn't look forward to too much. Depending on the day, it's either a day full of surgeries or full of day of stitches and stomach aches.

I was just finishing up sutures on a patient when I heard Jackson arguing with someone.

"You passed out in a restaurant and you have abdominal pain. You're not getting on a plane" Jackson countered.

I walked over to see him arguing with an older man on a gurney.

"Sir, I need you to move to the bed" I explained as I tried to help the patient.

"I got this, Shepherd" Jackson said. His formality caught me off guard.

"Dr. Avery you aren't on duty" I said getting ready to examine the patient.

"Tell her to back off Jackie" the patient said. I looked up at Jackson.

"Jackie?"

"Look I've already paged Bailey" Jackson argued.

"Well until she comes I'll just examine him" I said to Jackson quite harshly. I wasn't understanding why he was pushing me away from doing my job.

"Sir, I'm doctor Shepherd. I'll be examining you" I said

"My grandson is a surgeon too. A damn good one" he said.

"He's your grandfather?" I asked.

"Seriously Bella, I can handle it till Bailey gets here" Jackson whispered sternly under his breath.

"Oh this is the girlfriend you were telling me about at lunch" Jackson's grandfather said with a wink at Jackson.  I smiled at Jackson, it was cute that he talked about me.

"Nice to meet you. I'm Isabella Shepherd" I said extending my hand out for a handshake.

"Dr. Harper Avery" he said. I looked up at Jackson. He told me he came from a family of surgeons but never mentioned it was the Harper Avery who gives out Harper Avery awards to those who do new and daring work in the field.

"It's nice to meet you sir" I said.

Bailey came down to the ER. "You paged?" Bailey asked Jackson.

Everyone began to gather around Jackson's grandfather. Word gets out fast. As Bailey examined Dr.Harper Avery once more he decided to ask a million questions.

"Are you the Dr. Shepherd who did the clinical trial on the gliomas?" He asked me.

"No that would be my father" I said.

"That would be me. Nice to meet you Dr. Avery. I'm Dr. Shepherd and the Chief here at the hospital"

"Well I don't need a cruise director, I need an experienced surgeon. Page me Dr. Grey" Dr.Avery said. Bailey and I looked at each other quite confused.

I paged Meredith who joined us a few minutes later.

"I'm doctor Grey" she said. Dr. Avery laughed.

"Either you have the world's best plastic surgeon or your not Ellis Grey" he said.

"No that was my mother. She passed away"

"Then does Dr. Webber still work here?" He asked.

"Yes, unfortunately he's not available today" my dad said as a patient began to bleed out in front of other patients. He muttered a sigh under his breath.

"Page Webber and bring him up to the room immediately" my dad whispered to me.

"Okay Dr. Avery we are going up to your room now" I said guiding them bed upstairs to the surgical wing.
