Around 24 hours into the shift my dad called a meeting for all interns and residents to meet. We gathered into a room where my dad explained the Katie Brice case. It wasn't often my dad was unsure of a medical condition but it happens, it happens to the best of the best.

He was in need of answers as to why the patient was experiencing seizures. She was a young pageant queen who need help to ensure she lives.

"So meredith, you're on the case want to work together? It's 50/50 for the surgery" Christina asked.

"Yeah and if we figure it out you can have the surgery" Meredith said just before the two became out of hearing range.

I began to walk to the library myself hoping to find some answers there.

"You wanna work with me?" George asked as he sprinted up next to me. He seemed like a lost puppy, someone who need guidance instead of being able to take stand.

"Um, I prefer to work alone" I said as another boy who had been in my tour group came up.

"Backoff 007, she's gonna work with me before she works with you. Hi I'm Alex Karev"

"And I'm leaving now"

I pushed my way through the two and began reading the books on the shelf. Slowly eliminating all possibilities of the seizures. I slid down the wall of books trying to rack my brain on anything that could get me on step closer.

"You slept with Shepherd?" Christina asked Meredith who responded with yes.

Were they talking about my dad? How did Meredith sleep with my dad when we just began our residency at Seattle Grace Hospital.

"Katie Brice said she feel down and hurt her ankle during gymnastics" Meredith commented to Christina. In that moment it hit me, I had the answer to Katie Brice's condition.

I got up dropping all the books to the ground and sprinting out of the library. I ran straight to the surgical floor where my dad was currently finishing up an operation.

I ran into the viewing room catching my breath before pressing the intercom button.

"Dr. Shepherd I figured out why Katie is experiencing seizures"

"Great we'll talk once I'm finished up here" my dad said with a smile. He was stripping his gloves and gown to get ready to scrub out.

I walked out of the room to find Christina Yang looking at me astonished.

"You figured it out? Where did you go to school again?" Christina asked.

"Harvard and you were Stanford right?" I asked before heading to the OR hallway.

"Dr. Shepherd Katie fell a few weeks ago, no one detected the aneurism" I explained. We ordered a CT and found the aneurism I suspected Katie to have.

"Great you can scrub in" my dad said. I looked over to Christina Yang and Meredith who were looking out way.

"I actually got the answer from them. Pick one of them to scrub in" I said.

"Okay Meredith scrub in" my dad called. Instantly I knew that those two were in love.

"You know you just turned down a surgery right. Like a brain surgery" Christina said.

"I know, I've seen that surgery at-least ten times already. I'm not missing anything" I said walking to an on call room to catch some sleep.

The long and dread first 48 shift finally came to end. As I was walking out I felt a hand touch my shoulder.

"Want to come see my RV? It's not much but I'll cook you some dinner" my dad said with a smile.

"Yeah dinner sounds nice, by the way I found an apartment. Meredith was looking for roommates and I figured sharing was cheaper than owning something myself" I said as we began to walk together.

My dad practically choked on his coffee.

"Is there a problem?" I asked.

"No, I mean I would help out with an apartment if that's what you'd want. You don't have to be living with people" my dad explained he looked nervous.

"I like the idea of roommates. So what are you cooking for dinner?" I asked.

"Trout" my dad said with a smile.
