Jackson held my hand as we both watched the doctor ultrasound the baby.

"Looks like you are about 9- 10 weeks along" she announced. We both exchanged a look, I was further along than I expected.

"The baby looks healthy and everything looks good" she continued as she degloved and turned the room light on. I pushed my shirt down and sat up.

"Thank you" Jackson said as she exited the room.

"Any news on your dad?" He asked.

"No, I'll talk to him tonight" I began as we walked down the hall of the hospital. "Wait, ugh, could you pick up Gia? I forgot I was meeting with Amelia after my shift to discuss a consult for her"

"Yeah, I have a consult for plastics so I'll see you tonight" Jackson said as we parted ways down the hall.
———
"Thanks again for the consult" Amelia said as we walked out of the x-Ray room.

"See you tomorrow"

After the consult with Amelia I went to the attendings lounge to change and head home. Just as I was finished up changing my phone began to ring.

"Hello?" I answered resting it in between my shoulder and ear.

"Bella, hey. Everything's fine. Jackson just came to pick up Gia. I just called to let you know I'm taking a flight in the morning. I'm coming back to Seattle in a few days" he explained.

"Good, I think we all need you here. When you come back I have news to share" I said smiling at the thought of telling him.

"Can't wait. I'll see you soon" he said before hanging up the call. I threw my phone in my bag and headed out of the hospital.

I walked in the following day around six in the evening, getting ready to do the night shift.

"Have you heard from your dad today?" Meredith asked on the catwalk.

"No why?" I asked back.

"Incoming plane crash" interns yelled as they sprinted down the hall.

"The White House called. He missed his morning meeting. I called no one answered"

"Knowing my dad he's throwing himself into packing. He'll call" I said before rushing to the ER.

I watched as survivors flood in. Some with minor injuries, other far more severe. I looked over to find Jackson squirting the debris out of a open limb. Half the patients leg was completely gone and I instantly had flash backs to the forest.

"Dr.Shepherd can I get a consult?" Jo asked. I followed her to the x-Ray room.

"Hey how are you holding up?"Alex asked as I walked in.

"I'm okay. A little shaken with the whole plane thing" I said sitting in front of the computer.

"Bad plane experience? I had that happen to me with my flight from Boston to Seattle. We got stuck on the tarmac for like four hours and no one could use the bathroom. Then they made us get off. Ugh it was the worse" Maggie said. Everyone including me looked at her strangely.

"You should tell her" Alex muttered before leaving.

"Tell me what?" Maggie said. I swiveled my chair around to face Maggie and the interns.

"A couple years ago, uh few of us from the hospital. We were in a bad plane accident. Landed in the middle of the forest and was there for 10 days. Traumatizing to say the least" I said trying to summarize the story.

"What exactly happened?" Jo asked.

"We crashed. Mark Sloan, my dad's best friends, my godfather, the plastics surgeon here at the time. He died, crushed by the weight of the plane. Meredith's other half sister Lexie, also Mark's girlfriend died as well. My dad lost some of the nerves in his hand. It was a long recover. Meredith and Cristina were never the same. Arizona had her leg amputated by Torres, without her consent"

"And you?" Jo asked.

"I was so lucky. I was pregnant with Gia. I left Seattle for awhile. Went to NYC, and was on a rocky road with Jackson. We all suffered, and we carry that with us everyday" I finished. Maggie at this point was in tears.

"Wow, how selfish am I" she cried. Alex came back to see if Maggie could come assist Meredith and Bailey in surgery.

I finished the consult and headed up to the OR to perform a craniotomy.

By the time the morning rolled around I had a short break to nap before having to go back into the same patient I performed surgery on last night.

I quickly checked my phone as I walked into the on call room. I dialed his number by heart, reaching the voicemail.

"Hey, hope everything's okay. Meredith seemed worried about you and everything yesterday and you haven't returned my calls" I recorded for the voicemail. Once I was done I hung up the phone and headed to sleep.
———
I was scrubbed in and had the patient stabilized cutting back into the skull.

"Suction" I announced. Slowly the time began to tick.

I was about an hour in when I noticed people walking by the gallery, gazing in before abruptly leaving.

"What is going on today?" I asked Edwards who was assisting.

"I'm not too sure" she said gazing up at the gallery herself.

A few hours later and we had finished. The patient was closed and being sent to recover.

I walked out of the OR and into the scrub room to scrub out when Jackson walked in.

"Hey, I just finished. Want to grab lunch?" I asked. He stood still looking sad.

"Did someone lose someone today? Everyone's like so depressed looking for no reason" I continued.

"Bella-"

I turned towards Jackson, the looking on his face only getting worse. I could see the tears pooling in the corner of his eyes.

"You're dad died" he whispered.

"My dad? He's in Washington D.C" I said in denial.

"Bella, he died. MVC, tried to help out and-" Jackson shouted as I walked out of the scrub room. I was now standing in the middle of the hall. The door swung open again and I saw Jackson shed a tear.

"He's dead?" I asked. In that moment, that I muttered those two words my brain and body accepted it. I fell to the floor crying, Jackson cradling my body.

We sat there crying together. People began to stare, feeling sad and empathetic for me.

"Come on" Jackson whispered picking my body off the floor of the hallway. "We can go home, together. Take the rest of the day off"

My body so weak and numb stood up and followed Jackson, clinging onto his shoulder. I could see everyone sad. The stares, though, bothered me the most.

"Are you okay?" A voice called out. I turned around to find Alex running after us.

"He's dead. He's gone" I cried once more. Alex gave me a hug.

"I just need to keep working" I muttered wiping away the tears.

"You're crazy. We are going home" Jackson spoke out.

"He's gone. Crying at home isn't going to bring him back. I have a simple surgery in an hour" I said rushing off to the lounge to fix myself up.
