The chief had called a big meeting today so everyone gathered into the auditorium.

"Hey what's this meeting about?" I asked Cristina as I sat down.

"I don't know something about rules" Cristina said.

"Okay everyone listen up" Chief Webber said unto the mic. The crowd of surgeons, nurses and such quickly quieted down.

"I am implementing a new teaching protocol here in Seattle grace. Some are new and some are old which are going to be reinforced.

"First, Second and Third residents will no longer be allowed to de facto specialize. The practice interferes with the development of a fully rounded surgical education. No more. Personal relationships, personal loyalties and personal favorites will no longer be a factor in our training program. Attendings, you will spread your wealth of knowledge equally amongst all of the residents. In addition we will refocus our attention on patient communication and beside manner" Chief Webber began to lecture.

"Is this for real?" I asked Cristina barely above a whisper.

"Oh sucks for you daddy can't help you anymore" she sassed. I rolled my eyes turning back to face Chief Webber.

"For some is, this means learning the lost art of humanity and compassion. For others, this means learning how to treat patients without becoming emotionally involved with them. This is a surgical program. Psychiatry is on the fifth floor. Let's not confuse the two. In addition, residents, your interns reflect on you. If they fail, you fail. If they succeed, you succeed"

The meeting was dismissed and everyone flooded out. Complaints were heard left and right.

"You pissed mcdreamy and mcsteamy can't help you anymore?" Alex asked.

"Hey don't tease her. She definitely hasn't abused her powers unlike some us" Izzy sassed giving daggers to Alex.

"Whatever" Alex said pissed off. He turned down the hallway walking away from us.

"Thanks Iz. Was I really abusing my powers with my dad and Sloan?" I asked. I couldn't shake the feeling that some of the speech and new rules were directed towards me.

"No I think you've handled it nicely" Izzy said before heading to the clinic. For some reason I felt as though she was being sarcastic as well.

I shrugged off the feeling and headed to make rounds around the surgical floor.

"Okay Lexie tell me about the patient" I said as we all walked in to the patient's room.

Chief Webber right behind my interns. He made it apparent the new rules put in place where to be taken seriously immediately.

"Hmmm" Chief Webber cleared his voice. "Since Lexie briefed us on the patient. Please pick another intern to proceed with helping the patient"

"Oh um okay. Matt Stone you can prep the patient for surgery" I said. Matt shook his head while the rest of us left the room.

"Can we talk in my office?" Chief Webber asked. I nodded my head responding with "I'll be there in a few"

Chief Webber walked away and I turned around to let a sigh out.

"What was that about?" Lexie asked.

"I don't know. Can you and the rest of the interns just tag along with someone else while I go speak to him. Hopefully I'll be back shortly"

I slowly walked down the hallway to his office. A million thoughts rattled through my head. I opened the door to find the Chief sifting through some paperwork.

"Uh, sit down dr.Shepherd" Chief Webber said. I closed the door behind me before sitting in one of the chairs.

"So I called you in today because I've gotten some concern about the new policy and your close ties to some of the people in this office" Webber began.

"Sir I-" I began but Webber immediately cut me off.

"I need you to sign a contract that states a verbal agreement was made between you and I. If you are to be shown any favoritism you'll be terminated immediately"

I stared blankly at Webber not sure how to respond.

"May I ask who brought us this concern?"

"That's confidential. Now you either sign it or you are terminated immediately" Webber sternly said.

I sighed feeling as though I had no other options.

"Is Meredith and my father signing this? Is Mark and all the people he slept with signing this?"

"No" was all Chief Webber said. I quickly signed the paper before storming out of the office. This new rule made me look like the abuser of favoritism.

I sprinted through the halls ignoring everyone's calls. I just wanted to get back to work and focus on the surgeries I had.
