Eight weeks since Gia was born and I was determined to get out of the house and get back to work.

I was dying to hold a scalpel in my hand instead of bottle and while I enjoyed being a mother I enjoyed being a surgeon as well.

"Good morning" I chimed as I walked into the kitchen. Jackson was feeding Gia while trying to have some morning coffee.

"You know no one is forcing you to go back this soon," Jackson said with a furrowed eyebrow.

"The baby will be fine I'm dropping her off at the hospital nursery before my shift," I said grabbing the diaper bag and my briefcase. Jackson gave me a concerned look.

"Really I'll be fine. I'm looking forward to it. Plus I'm brushed up on all the meetings and ready to be a board member" I said giving Jackson a kiss and grabbing the baby from his arms.

He gave a gentle smile.

"I'll see you at work," he said before jogging up the stairs to change. I took the baby and placed her in the car seat before reversing out of the driveway and driving to the hospital.

When I arrived I noticed trucks unloading large amounts of supplies like sand. As I walked in, the hospital was hustling around me. I dropped off Gia at the daycare, but not without a few coworkers cooing at her first.

Once I was done I headed to the lobby where Hunt was to be announcing something.

"Welcome back," my dad said giving me a kiss on the cheek and a side hug. I smiled.

"Thanks feels good to be back. Just need to complete a surgery for it to feel real" I explained. Hunt walked down the stairs and gathered everyone's attention at once.

"A storm is three days out. This storm will bring lots of casualties. We're gonna need to make room for them, so let's discharge all patients that can be. Including Post-Op and long-term patients who will be transferred to Seattle Pres further inland. We're gonna bring supplementals water, food, meds, lighting. As for you surgeons, push, postpone or cancel all elective procedures" Hunt announced.

"Well there goes my surgery for today" I mumbled under my breath.

"Hey, what's going on?" Jackson asked as he pushed his way through the crowd

"Hunt just announced some major storm. I have to cancel my surgery today" I said with annoyance in my voice. Hunt dismissed us and everyone dispersed in different directions.

"You need to ease into it anyways. Help Bailey print patient files" Jackson said before running off. I huffed at his comment. I was not going to be put on printer duty my first day back.

I slowly climbed the staircase hoping to avoid Bailey and find an O.R who could use the assistance. Just as I climbed the last set that reached the top floor I noticed Meredith who looked in pain seated against the wall.

"Mer?" I asked rushing over to her side.

"Help" she softly cried out.

I ran to the door and had a nurse who happened to be walking by help me get Meredith to the O.B to get checked out.

"Did you page him?" Meredith asked me for the 4th time in 10 minutes.

"Yes," I responded pacing back and forth.

"I'm here," my dad said rushing into the room. He immediately grabbed Meredith's hand. The doctor used the Ultrasound machine to assess if there was any damage.

"Your baby's fine," the doctor said. My dad and Meredith didn't seem convinced. I was relieved to find that Meredith and the baby were okay.

"Page me if you need me" I whispered to both of them before exiting the room. I didn't want to pry on the doctor and then talking.
