Chapter Ten

"Okay, we need to move immediately" the bomb squad leader said.

Meredith and I exchanged a look of uncertainty.

"I can't move my hand at all but you want to move the patient to another room?" Meredith asked.

"Yes, the main oxygen line runs over this room. We need to move away from it and soon" he explained. I continued to pump the air bag as we got vests placed on us.

"So Meredith you are going to remove the explosive level out of the body cavity and then you are going to bring it to this room" the guy explained.

We slowly started to push the bed out of the room. I tried to maintain even beats.

"Then you and Dr.Burke can proceed with the surgery" I shook my head to show I understood. As we moved slowly down the hall Cristina came running out of the OR.

"What are you doing?" She asked paranoid.

"We are moving" Meredith calmly said just as the bed hit a raise in the floor. Everyone stood still for a minute expecting the bomb to shift and the place to blow up.

"Let's keep going" the leader said. We continued down the hall, Cristina returned to the OR.

We entered the room and all let out a deep breath before Meredith began to panic.

"I can't do it" Meredith kept repeating fear settling in her eyes.

"Hey, we both had the same feeling today" I said hoping it would provide some ease in this situation. She looked at me and slowly pulled the bomb out of the body cavity. Once the bomb was transferred to the leader, I followed him out wanting to go check on my dad.

I was just a foot behind him when the bomb exploded. My body was flung back hitting the wall hard.

I tried getting up but my vision was impaired and my ears were ringing from the explosion.

"Meredith" I yelled or at least yelled in my mind. She was practically unconscious when Cristina came out and helped her up.

We headed to the elevator, I got off on the main floor of the east wing while Cristina took Meredith to the locker room.

"Bella" Addison yelled as she saw me come off the elevator. I could tell I was covered in soot and blood but that didn't stop her from grabbing me in a hug. She stroked my hair like she did when I was child who need comforting.

I looked up to find my dad searching for Meredith, but his eyes fell on me. He rushed over giving me a hug.

"Bella" my dad whispered into my hair as he held me tightly to his chest.

"I knew what it meant, just like you taught me. I tried to act calm" I muttered. My dad extended his arms out straight looking me in the face.

"You're alive, you're fine. That's all that matters to me" my dad said with a soft weak smile.

"Were you able to save Bailey's husband?" I asked my dad. He shook his head yes.

"I finally got Bailey to push" Addison added.

"My ears are still ringing" I commented trying to focus on hearing. The father and the doctor side of my dad collided into one being in that moment. He sat me down and pulled out his light examining my eyes and head for any injuries.

"Derek she's fine" Addison responded to his actions.

"I'm a concerned father who happens to specialize in brain injuries. Let me do my thing" my dad said. I smiled at how caring and concerned he became. My dad was such a softy when it came to being a parent.

"Derek, Addison everything okay?" Chief Webber asked.

"Is this your daughter?" The chief's wife asked.

"Yeah, Bella is now an intern" my dad boosted. I smiled at the vibrant woman.

"She's a gorgeous girl, you two raised a good one" She said before following the Chief around.

"You two did raise a good one" I mocked making them laugh at my joke. "I'm going to get cleaned up"

I headed upstairs to the locker room to find Alex pacing.

"Alex?"

His attention instantly turned towards me. He grabbed me in a hug spinning me around before placing me down on the ground and kissing me.

"Hi to you too I guess" I said shocked at the affection.

"I was so worried about. Meredith looked like a hot mess and then I didn't see you"

"I'm fine, just some bruises is all" I said before walking into to strip my dirty scrubs off and place my fresh clean clothes on.

I heard the shower running and saw both Izzie and Cristina showering Meredith off. I headed back downstairs to see my dad still looking for something.

"She's upstairs getting cleaned off if that's who you're worried about" I whispered into his ear as I gave him one big hug.
