Zion's POV

I wake to something warm - and oddly comforting - brushing against my face and running through my hair.

My eyes open in confusion.

It's Robby running his hand through my hair, gently waking me up, "Good morning, beautiful."

I smile happily, "Good morning, Swayze."

"You're in a good mood," he notes.

"So are you," I say as I sit up. "It's infectious." He chuckles. I take a moment. "It's nice to smile."

"Yeah," he nods. "We have a busy day."

"Yeah. I have a good feeling about it all after yesterday. It was hard, but we still came out on top." I try to think positively. "Nothing can be worse than yesterday was for me."

"I feel good about it, too," Robby says with a small smile. "Training last night really made me feel good about taking on anyone. Even Axel."

"Yeah, I think we can beat the Iron Dragons," I agree as I grab my cosmetic bag. "Together."

"I want nothing more," Robby assures me. "Are you first in the bathroom?"

"Well," I grab the paper from yesterday, "our schedule says pictures first thing today. I figured I'd shower then come out here and do makeup, leave you the bathroom then."

"Okay, cool. I'm gonna run to my dad's room. He said he has something for me. I'll be back in a minute," Robby grabs his keycard.

"Okay," I say as I walk into the bathroom and turn on the hot water.

Robby's POV

It really is nice to smile again. It's even nicer to know that this whole tournament crap will be behind us in one day. It'll be the best feeling ever when we beat Silver, though.

I don't want to get my hopes up too high, but even my dad said last night that my defense was the best it's ever been. I really owe all of my senseis but especially Sensei LaRusso for teaching me Miyagi-Do and welcoming me back after I defected.

This tournament win can turn my whole life around. I can prove that even someone who comes from nothing can become something.

When I arrive, I knock on my senseis' hotel door.

"Robby, hey, morning," my dad welcomes me in. "How are you feeling?"

"Good," I nod as I walk in. "Ready."

"Good," he repeats. "Good. Um, sit for a sec."

I sit on the bed as he wanders to a bag on the floor. I guess Sensei LaRusso and Sensei Toguchi left for breakfast already.

"Hey, so, uh," my dad sits beside me, something in his hand. "I'm really proud of you for making it this far." My eyes meet his in surprise. "I'm not, uh, into the sentimental shit too much... Not badass enough for me." He kind of laughs it off. I smile. "But your grandma... she was. My mom, Laura. She was the best."
