"Afterthought apologies are not enough to make me believe, make me forgive you, repair the damage done. It isn't enough to say you're sorry and still have your fun."

A/N: Hi! I'm so happy to be updating after a long week of real life. Sorry it's so long again? I had a lot to include!

Also I had the idea to tie some of the part 3 college discussion into this section, so just go with it.

Zion's POV

"Hello, child."

I step back and out of the cold, ruined milkshakes as I find my voice, "What are you doing here?"

"I came back. For you," Kreese says as he somehow stands in front of me.

Out of fight, flight, or freeze, I choose fight. I get into a stance, not even sure if I could take him down if I tried.

He smiles slightly, "There's no need for that. I just want to talk."

"Talk? How are you even here? You're a fugitive," I ask in disbelief while silently telling myself not to drop this stance just in case.

"Sure, but I know how to get around," he shrugs and steps closer to me. I step back. He frowns. "I thought you might be happier to see me."

I stare at him in disbelief, "Why would you ever think that? You admitted to me, like, four months ago that everything you did was a manipulation."

"Well, that was all a lie," Kreese says.

"No, that's a lie," I counter.

"I was in prison, and I was only there because I was framed, by Silver no less. How do you think he would have reacted if he'd seen your name on my visitor's log multiple times?" I pause, confused. "You told me during that visit that he'd already tried to kill you."

His words cut deep. I try to make sense of it all.

"He threatened you as he had me arrested." I try to process this; he did? "I had to turn you away somehow. For all I know he was watching those logs," Kreese says.

"But... But Tory visited you," I say, remembering that she was in contact with him while he was in there.

"Under a pseudonym," he reveals. "I may want a lot in this world, child, but I never wanted to see you hurt."

"Even if what you're saying is true," I say tensely, "you did hurt me."

"And you, me," he replies. "Do you know that your defection at the All Valley was one of the hardest moments of my life?" I look at him wearily. "I had no idea where you went, and no one could find you. Terry tried to get me to move on and convince me it was your ego or some bullshit. But I knew that wasn't my star fighter."

"I am not yours," I snap.

"I understand that you're mad. I was, too, for a long while. Seeing you fighting for LaRusso. Miyagi-Fang."

He laughs to himself about the name. I keep my guard up.

"But even in those moments, I saw you winning, and I was proud of you. Every single time," Kreese tells me.
