Zion's POV
I'm composed... enough.
We all sit at one big table at the bar Hawk chose. It's awkward; it seems no one knows how to break the ice. Robby and I are the only ones not drinking.
I just came to get out of the hotel and maybe even dance later or do something - anything - to get my mind off of everything.
"So no update on your mom?" Hawk turns to Miguel. I notice him look at me, too, knowing how close I am to Carmen.
"No. Yaya's completely in the dark," Miguel confirms. I stir my Diet Coke anxiously.
"Well, I have some news," Devon speaks up, "though it's not very good." We all turn to her curiously. "I told our senseis that I was the one who sabotaged Kenny with Sensei Barnes' flag race."
"You did?" Robby asks before I can. I feel slight anger for the girl bubble inside of me; Kenny told me Anthony did it. That's only created more drama for both of them.
"Yeah, and I've felt horribly," the girl looks down in dismay. "It's clear I'm not the best our team has to offer, and I want us to win. At the time I was just so focused on being the best for this opportunity that I lost all sense of myself."
"You are a good fighter," Sam tells her to make up for what was said earlier.
"Thanks, but you don't have to say that. You were right earlier. So that's why I told Sensei Lawrence that they should fly in Kenny to take my spot here."
"What?" A panic runs through my body. Kenny is coming to this shit show?
"I just want it to be fair," Devon says, "considering it seems that lately it's not been..."
I can tell she's alluding to the position I'm in. I tense even more now.
"Look," Miguel nods to the door with a frown. I turn back to see Cobra Kai coming in, with Tory and Kwon leading them.
Tory sees us and seems to hesitate for a moment before making her way to the bar. Kwon just smirks at us before following her.
"What are the fucking chances they chose this place?" Hawk asks as he chugs the rest of his drink. I look down in dismay.
I notice Robby sit up taller and reach for my hand supportively. I accept, even though I'm definitely not in the mood to talk about it or seem vulnerable. I have to stand by my actions today and stand strong, even if I feel like crumbling into pieces.
"I feel terrible for Tory," Sam speaks up, "but we can't let her or any of Cobra Kai keep getting in our heads like this."
I look up at the girl, "That's not why I did what I did. You know that, right?"
