Daden Yaonu waved before jumping into the Cold Pond and swimming away with Shui.

It was a sad time for all, Shui had shed pearl tears until both Wei Ying and Daden Yaonu reassured him that they would definitely meet again, and soon.

SiZhui stood next to Lan Zhan, who was holding an emotional Wei Ying, who in turn was holding an equally emotional Li XiWang.

"It's okay, father, we will see them soon." Li XiWang told Wei Ying, tearfully.

"Of course, we will, little rabbit, of course we will." He replied back, both wiping each other's tears away.

When there was no longer any sign of the silvery tail waving goodbye, they turned and left, walking slowly back to the Jingshi.

They met a frowning Jiang Cheng, who scowled even more upon his eyes landing on the second Jade.

"Jiang Cheng!" Wei Ying bounced up to him, his good humour returning upon seeing his brother.

The scowl deepened.

"I'll be waiting in the library." Lan Zhan bowed and left, and Wei Ying was sure he was smiling.

Was Lan Zhan enjoying punishing Jiang Cheng...?

"How many do you have left?" Wei Ying asked, turning back to the purple lotus.

"I've lost count." Jiang Cheng replied, miserably. "But I bet he hasn't."

Wei Ying stifled a giggle.

They parted ways after Jiang Cheng shoved a now openly laughing Wei Ying, who made his way to the Jingshi, with an idea forming in his mind.

He met XiChen at the door and invited him in. Wei Ying poured tea for both of them, and smiled kindly. He always had the softest spot for XiChen. The man had wholeheartedly supported his relationship with Lan Zhan, never failing to encourage both of them, either separately or together. It was always good to have someone on your side, but especially when you were younger and didn't know anything.

"XiChen-ge, I have been meaning to thank you." He blurted out, his thoughts coming to the forefront of his mind, and out of his mouth.

"Really? What for?" XiChen studied him over the rim of his cup.

"There's lots of things actually, but mostly because, if you hadn't opened my eyes to what Lan Zhan felt for me, we probably wouldn't be together now. I would have continued to hurt him and myself in my ignorance." Wei Ying blushed. "I wanted to tell you before, but somehow, it was never the right time."

XiChen patted his hand, fondly.

"I'm glad I did. I have come to love you like my brother, and my heart is always happy when I see the two of you together. You are most welcome, Brother Wei." He cleared his throat then.

Wei Ying sensed that he wanted to talk about something, and that he hadn't met him accidentally. Or without Jiang Cheng...

"What's on your mind?" Wei Ying smiled at him kindly.

His XiChen-Ge would only seek him out if he wanted to talk about Jiang Cheng.

"I have a problem." XiChen admitted. "I don't know what to do about Jiang Cheng."

"What do you mean? He's being punished, right?" Wei Ying was confused.

"Yes...that's not what I mean." He sighed, deeply. "I love him, nothing is going to change that. But...I know I didn't see it, the image of him striking you with Zidian...I cannot get over it."

"It's nothing to worry about, XiChen-Ge." Wei Ying told him, confidently. "I've been on the receiving end of that too many times to count." He flexed his arm, trying to make light of it, but it produced tears in the other's eyes instead.
