They still had some time before the meeting in the library.

"Lan Zhan, will you please play something for me?" Wei Ying asked, disentangling himself from his husband to sit next to him.

The door opened and he smiled both in relief that it had been not a moment too soon, and welcome to see his daughter. He held out his arms and she ran to him, making herself comfortable. They sat in silent awe as WangJi was summoned.

Lan Zhan's fingers lovingly grazed the strings, still tinged pink in places, this partner of his who had shared his greatest sorrow. And yet, it was the composing of a certain melody upon this very instrument that allowed his reunion with the other half of his soul.

The same love he felt for his spiritual instrument was reflected on his face for his family as he looked at both precious people sitting so close to him.

And then, he began to play.

They closed their eyes to listen fully, entranced by each note as it wept, the sound washing over their senses and taking over until nothing else was left.

The depth of feeling resonated within their hearts, captivating emotions that were buried and forgotten. Uplifting and heartbreaking, the melody sang...evoking memories of a lost time. A hopeful yearning, of wanting, and of fulfilment, of wishes to come true.

Of beauty, of wandering and wondering, of light and happiness, of joy, of loving, it spoke to their souls. Of the reflections, the opposite of these, like waters cascading over boulder, over rocks, a song that dreams are made out of.

It purified their minds, showing another reality, of possibilities, a hand to caress their weary minds, to let them rest.

To be at ease, was a gift.

"Wei Ying."

The words, so softly spoken, held a warning and a call to his attention. Wei Ying opened his eyes.

Li XiWang was writing.

Her fingers held the brush with an elegance borne from years of practice, the calligraphy nothing short of excellence.

Lan Zhan continued to play, not wishing to disturb her concentration, as she copied everything from her mind onto the sheet.

The characters were sophisticated and complicated but she wrote as a master. Each stroke of brush against its opposite of parchment, a meeting of soft against hard, to create a masterpiece. They both watched their daughter in awe.

Then, she put the brush down, turned to face Wei Ying and said, "find my home." She closed her eyes and slumped back into him.

Wei Ying was already on edge, but he had not realised that Bai Hua had returned, only when Li XiWang had turned her face so he could see the paler irises. He dared not move as she fixed her intense gaze upon him, silvery white eyes pinning his darker ones.

Lan Zhan stopped playing, watching Wei Ying.

"Well...that was..." he whispered, unable to find any suitable words.

"Mn."

Wei Ying picked up the paper to examine it.

This, thankfully, was not mirror writing, but this did not mean it was any easier to understand.

A rainbow at night,
Invisible in daylight,
Concealed to those
Whose ignorance is pain,

True of heart,
Of mind and deed,
Who lives with grace,
Only he shall find peace.

Wei Ying read it out and stared at Lan Zhan.

"What do you think?"

"What was the first one?" Lan Zhan asked.
