Wei Ying carried Li XiWang as they travelled. This was the fourth day, and his little girl seemed more subdued than normal.

In fact, if he thought about it, she had been quiet for the past few days anyway, just today seemed to be worse.

When they sat for lunch, he woke her up from the sleep she had fallen into and she stirred, rubbing her eyes. But when he handed a bowl of rice, she burst into tears.

Wei Ying gathered her into his arms, shocked, and wondering if it was just because she appeared tired. He caught Lan Zhan's eyes then and raised a brow, but the Jade was no help, shrugging his answer.

"My little rabbit..." he crooned, rubbing her back. "How can I help you if you don't tell me what's going on, huh?"

The sobs gradually passed until she was trembling with only the odd hiccup.

"I miss SiZhui-ge. And JingYi-ge. And Jin Ling-ge...and Grumple."

"Grumple?" Wei Ying was even more puzzled.

"She means Uncle." Lan Zhan explained with a smile. "A mix of Uncle, grandpa and-"

"Because he always looks grumpy...though not so much nowadays." Li XiWang finished.

"That's a great name for him." Wei Ying hugged her again. "Does he know that's what you call him?"

She nodded. "First time, it was an accident but he liked it so much, he said I could call him that when it was just the two of us."

"Then how come you know about it?" Wei Ying stared at Lan Zhan, unbelievably a little jealously.

"Overheard."

"Oh." Wei Ying beamed at him with relief. "That's alright then. Little rabbit, we'll be home in just over a week. It will be fine." He watched as her lips trembled, warning of another crying jag.

"But father...it's so long...and I'm so tired..."

I have a solution. Hui Gai appeared on his other side.

"What do you suggest, my friend?" Wei Ying turned to him.

"I can teleport her back. In fact, all of us." Hui Gai grinned back.

"Really?" Wei Ying looked for approval from Lan Zhan, who nodded.

"Okay. But..." Wei Ying whispered something in Hui Gai's ear.

If the demon could blush...

"Do you want to go now, Li XiWang?" Wei Ying asked her, kissing her forehead.

"Can we?" She looked so hopeful, Wei Ying didn't want to say no. So he whispered something else in her ears and she beamed back at him with two thumbs up.

She kissed both their cheeks and said, "see you in a few days."

Hui Gai took her hand and she carried her familiars, Xiao Mao in her arms while DaErduo perched on her shoulders, and they vanished.

"A few days?" Lan Zhan questioned.

Wei Ying blushed.

"I'll be right back." He went to get up, but Lan Zhan held his hand, tugging.

"Do you trust me, Lan Zhan?" Wei Ying turned on the full force of his sparkling grey eyes on his husband.

"Always." He answered, firmly.

Wei Ying melted at his conviction, and both the trust and love he saw reflected back to him.

"Okay. I have a surprise for you too. I just have to explain to Hongse. Be right back." Wei Ying kissed his cheek and scrambled up to go and talk to her.
