"We miss Angel!" Hailie screeched as her and Lainey ran through the entire house crying together, both feeding off of each others tantrums.
"Baby, come on! Please just get in the bath!" I pleaded, trying my best to run after the both of them as they flew down the hallway.
"No! We only want Angel to give us baths!" Lainey yelled, her little legs continuing to somehow take her way faster than mine ever could.
"If ya just get in, you can go watch TV with Nate and Stevie after!" I exclaimed, trying my best to persuade them once more.
"No! We want Angel!" Lainey yelled once more, stomping her feet as hard as she could. Sighing, I stopped running after them and just decided to let them continue with their fit until they tired themselves out.
"Maybe just call Angel and let 'em talk to her!" I heard Nate yell from the living room.
"Nah-" I began yelling, just before being cut off by the girls loud shrieks.
"Please, daddy! Please! Please! Please!" Hai yelled, running up to me as she pulled on the bottom of my t-shirt and began jumping up and down.
"We promise we'll take a bath! Please!" Lainey joined in with her little sister.
"Girls, no! Ya can't talk to her!" I yelled back sternly.
"PLEASE DADDY!" Hailie screamed at the absolute top of her lungs
"WE MISS ANGEL!" Lainey added again, matching Hailie's screams as tears began to roll down her cheeks.
"Girls, I said-"
"PLEASE!" Hailie screeched once more.
"Fine!" I yelled, yanking my phone from my pocket. "Fine! But ya have to swear to me ya gon' get in the tub after!"
Immediately, I watched as both their faces lit up like a damn Christmas tree, and all their tears were suddenly dried. "We promise, daddy!" Hailie yelled again, her voice turning excited.
"We swear!" Lainey added. As a frustrated gust of air blew through my nose, I found Angel's contact and began dialling. I can't fuckin' believe this. They're my kids! Angel fuckin' left them! And yet they still wanna talk to her as if me and Kim ain't their actual fuckin' parents.
After a few moments, the ringing finally stopped. "Hello?" Angel's already annoyed voice came through.
"Yo, ya got a minute?"
"Uh, not really, Marshall. I'm on my way to a meeting."
"Yeah? 'Bout what?"
"Mm, that's none of your business."
Instinctually, my eyes rolled. "Look, the girls wanna talk to you, aight? They're refusin' to get into the bath unless they could call ya."
"Mm, okay. Put 'em on."
"Oh so now you got time?" I spat.
"Yup." She stated harshly. Letting another annoyed and frustrated sigh exhale from between my lips, I handed the phone over to Lainey first as both girls sat and stared at me with way more patience than I could ever have. Especially with Angel.
Immediately, the two squealed, scurrying off with my phone. "Yo! Bring it back when ya done!" I yelled from behind them. With no response, all I could hear were their giggles as I went to go and run some more warm water in the tub. Lord knows the water I previously ran is cold now considering how long I've been fightin' with the two of 'em. Fifteen or so minutes later they were finally done and I was handed my cellphone back. "Aight, ya'll feel better now?" I asked, snapping the device closed after making sure they had hung up properly.
