Perching myself on top of the kitchen island, I waited patiently as I had my favourite pizza flavoured bagel bites cooking in the toaster oven. Pulling my phone out of my jeans pocket, I began mindlessly scrolling through Facebook, feeling incredibly exhausted after Des' crazy ass seventh birthday party. It wasn't that it was huge by any means, it was just the fact of having even more than one seven-year-old running around, creating multiple whirlwinds of a mess while they were all hopped up on cake and soda, really just tired me out. I truly don't know how these parents of twins, or god forbid triplets do it. They have to be absolute saints, because that's the only sound explanation I can come up with.

Listening as Marshall's heavy feet casually strolled down the stairs, I internally thanked him for taking on the responsibility of Des' and Stevie's bedtime alone tonight. Although, they both seemed just as tired as me, so I'm sure it wasn't that difficult of a task.

"Aight, they're down." Marshall's deep voice rumbled as he quickly turned the corner, leading him directly into the kitchen.

Sighing as an overwhelming amount of relaxation hit me, I set my phone down. "Thank you."

"Anything ya need, baby." Planting a quick, but gentle kiss against my lips, he continued on his path towards the fridge. "Whatchu makin'?" Jutting his chin out towards the toaster over, he grabbed a fresh bottle of water.

"Pizza bites." I casually stated.

Turning himself around, he cocked a suspicious eyebrow up as he cracked open his water. "You eat anything of substance today, or just cake and pizza bites?" Smiling, I let out a small, nervous giggle, feeling incredibly unsure of how to answer his accusatory question. Chuckling at my obvious attempt to dodge the question, the toaster oven finally dinged. "Aight, so that's a no." He stated, turning himself around as he grabbed me a plate and began removing my food from the oven.

I laughed. "Listen, what I put in my body is none of your damn business." Turning back around with my perfectly browned bites, he walked only a few steps towards me as he handed me my plate. "Just 'cause you're on this whole health thing, doesn't mean I gotta be." Smiling, he planted both free hands down beside my legs, caging me in with just his body as I picked my first piece up.

"That's true, but I still gotta make sure ya eatin' right."

Taking my first bite, I nodded. "Oh, I am." Chuckling, he kept his eyes glued to me as I finished chewing. "Here. Try." Bringing the small circular food up to his mouth, he took a bite.

Chewing, he nodded. "Yeah, that's good."

I laughed. "See! I told you."

Smiling, he licked the rogue crumbs away from his lips. "You still gotta start eatin' better, though."

"Mm?" I hummed, gently placing my plate down beside me before softly pushing my hands over his shoulders. "And why's that?"

Sliding his hands up the side of my thighs, he slowly made his way towards my waist. "'Cause I love you." Placing a gentle peck against my lips, he pulled his mouth away from mine but only so much as to where he could talk without mumbling. "And I wanna take care of you." Leaving that same soft kiss against my lips once more, he broke it again. "And know that you're healthy." Giving me yet another gentle peck, he pulled away once more. "And happy." Offering a smile, he gave me one last final kiss.

"I'm very happy."  I mumbled against his lips.

Breaking the kiss once more, he gently leaned his forehead against mine. "Are you?" He rasped, his questioning eyes meeting mine.

Lightly, I nodded, my fingers beginning to softly push themselves through the back of his hair. "More than you could ever know." Offering him another small smile, he continued staring for a moment, almost as if he was trying to read my thoughts. Instead of forcing him to guess, my eyes fluttered closed as I applied a gentle pressure to the back of his head, telling him to kiss me again.
