Inhaling a confident breath, Marshall swung the front door of the large radio building open for me as he kept his other hand secure in mine. With Paul and Charmin trailing behind us, we were immediately greeted by numerous of the ThisIs50 staff as we were shown to the live studio where Fifty and the co-hosts, Mister Cee and Angie Martinez, were all waiting for us.
Turning into the spacious room, we laid eyes on all three as they quickly began to welcome us. "Yo! Thanks so much for comin', dawg!" Fifty happily greeted Marshall, dapping each other up almost as soon as they saw one another. "So happy to have ya here!"
"Yo, no worries, man! We're excited to be here!" Marshall replied just as enthused. Releasing one another, he quickly went to go and say hello to others as I shot Fifty a tight lipped smile.
"Yo, Angel, how're you? How you doin', girl?" He asked awkwardly, his arms widening as he offered a hug.
Complying, I wrapped one arm around his back as I allowed him to embrace me. "I'm fine, how're you?"
"I'm good, I'm good. Thanks so much for comin'." Releasing me, I could tell he was only playin' nice due to the favour I was giving him, but that's fine. The favours not for him anyway. It's for Marshall.
"Yeah, 'course." I forced a smile once more. Moving onto the others, we all quickly, and much more happily, exchanged greetings before sitting down in our respective seats as our microphones were tested one last time. Watching as Mister Cee opened his mouth to begin the introductions, I relaxed my body as best I could, Marshall's hand sneaking over top of the arm rest of my chair as he intertwined our fingers.
"ThisIs50 dot com and we got some very special guests in the building-" Cee started, only to be abruptly cut off by Fifty.
"And I'm hella shocked one of 'em came, but Brooklyn ain't never ran, never will-"
"Eminem, and the queen Angel! Mornin' guys!" Mister Cee happily welcomed.
"Mornin', dawg." Marshall casually replied.
"Good mornin', Cee!" I added, my happy tone matching his.
"How ya'll doin'?" Cee asked again.
"We're good, we're really good!" I replied once more, offering a friendly smile.
"Well, let's keep it real here, 'cause I'm from Brooklyn, so it's exciting for me to have you here. Hardcore is still one of my favourite albums of all time, and I've seen you at clubs, in Brooklyn, everything, so, y'know." Angie giggled. "I'm excited to get into it."
Laughing, I felt as the blood beneath my cheeks began to pool. "Aww, thank you."
"So, so, lemme ask, what have ya'll workin' on? Are we gonna get a new Em or Angel album anytime soon? I know you dropped Relapse awhile ago, you just moved back to Detroit, so it's been a minute. What's been goin' on?" Cee quickly interjected, his attention wavering back and forth between me and Marshall.
"Well, yeah, y'know, there's been a lot of just personal shit goin' on with her movin', and whatever else, but y'know, I think we always got somethin' in the works, for sure, it's just a matter of when." Marshall replied.
"Yeah? And that's the same for you, Angel?" Cee asked.
I nodded. "Yeah, I mean I'm always workin', I'm always doin' somethin', it's just whatever I do next has gotta feel right to me. And the time will come, it'll present itself, I know that, so I just gotta wait it out 'til it does, y'know?"
As Cee nodded in agreement, I watched as Fifty's lips parted, forcing myself to mentally prepare for whatever bullshit was about to be spewed. "So, can I ask you, what- Where did the beef ever come from for you and Nicki Minaj? It seems like you two just don't get along, she kinda idolized you when she first came out with a lot of stuff she was doin' whether it was her mixtape, whether it was the same posters, the same everything-"
