Part Forty-Seven 사십칠

I keep thinking about my plan to stay here all the way to the meeting. I know it is insane, but I really think I can make it work. The only thing holding me back is the fact that all my friends will be there as well... All the members, Kaylee, Yana, Jesse, James... But then I realise not everyone will join. Jin's girlfriend Jaylin and Jimin's girlfriend Cristina won't be able to join either. Because of their jobs, they have to stay here and can't go to LA for a month. So I won't be completely alone.

"Thank you everyone for joining us today," Mitch opens the meeting, "Good to see everyone together." His eyes scan the room and a big smile forms on his face. He probably needs to get used to so many people in this room. Normally we only have a meeting with our own crew, at max. But with two entire crews, is definitely a first for all of us.

I take a moment to scan the room as well. Yana sits next to me. It still feels surreal that she is here with us. A few weeks ago, Yana applied to be the new chef of our crew. Since a lot of people were very disappointed about the last chef, he got fired. This was the perfect chance for Yana to swoop in and join the company. And that is exactly what happened. Since a few weeks she takes care of all the meals for the company, but we made sure she would be a part of the BTS-crew. She will join all the tours and travels to take care of all the food, which is nearly always freshly prepared. That's why she will also join us to LA next week. Something we are all very excited for.

Next to Yana sit Kaylee and Jesse, close to them sit the members of BTS and next to them sits Ye-Jun. I try not to look at the fact that she sits next to Taehyung and whispers something to him. Luckily I spot Hangyu on the other side of the room. He looks back at me and smiles. I smile back at him and stick up my thumb. I see how he tries to hold his laugh and in response he pretends like he almost falls asleep, what makes me laugh.

"As all of you know, all these people will go to Los Angles together next week," Mitch says, "We are very excited to share this experience together. Now I want to discuss a few things about this trip with you. First of all we have the American Music Awards. First of all, congrats to both BTS and Ye-Jun for the nominations!" Everyone applauds and cheers. The members and Ye-Jun make a bow and smile wide.

"Because of that, we can go to the event together. Of course Ye-Jun and BTS will be in the spotlight, so the rest of us will go as audience. But I am happy to say we have an entrance ticket for all of us," Mitch happily announces. Then he turns to Ye-Jun, "Because this is your first AMA's, you can stay with BTS and they will lead the way for you." Ye-Jun smiles wide and looks at the members. "That will be no problem!" She smiles. I can't help but roll my eyes and feel annoyed.

Kaylee puts her hand on my shoulder and smiles kindly at me. "We'll just get drunk," She winks at me. I smile and nod. I want to tell her I plan on staying here in Korea, but I will leave that for after this meeting. Or maybe till after Mitch agrees with me. Because I don't know how smooth that conversation will go...

"Great, the days after the AMA's, BTS will attent to a few TV-shows. This will be spread over about two weeks," Mitch continues, "After these two weeks, we want to start shooting the music video. During this time Ye-Jun and her crew will also shoot a music video. So we will both be occupied for a few days. After that we will plan a few days to shoot 'Run BTS'." I listen to Mitch, but the more I hear, the more I like the idea of staying here...

"Of course, of course we will have enough time to enjoy the city and have fun all together. Above all, we've booked one hotel for all of us," Mitch says, what makes everyone in the room cheer. Luckily, I will stay at our own house in LA, so I don't have to deal with all of that.

I notice Yoongi's eyes on me. He smiles at me, but I see a concerned look in his eyes. I try to smile back at him, but the look on his face tells me my smile isn't as sincere as I might hoped. I see how his lips form 'we'll be fine', what makes me smile. Genuinely smile. Yoongi smiles proudly and turns his focus back to Mitch.

After Mitch told us everything he wanted to tell us about our trip, he thanks everyone for coming and ends the meeting. We all get up and get ready to go back to work. "See you at lunch?" Kaylee asks me. I smile and nod, "Yes." Kaylee smiles wide, "Great!" She turns to Jesse and gives him a quick kiss. "I'll see you in a bit to film the dance practice," she smiles at him. Jesse smiles back at her, "See you soon, darling."

As everyone makes their way to the exit, I stay in the room. "Are you coming?" James asks me. "I'll be right there," I tell him and look at Mitch, who is still talking to someone. James looks worried, "Are you okay?" I nod, "Yes, I'll be right there." But he stays. "What are you up to?" He asks me. I sigh and roll my eyes. Why does he catch up so easily? Before I even say something, he knows I am up to something. I try my very best to hide it, but he always notices.

"Nothing," I tell him. As I see Mitch is done talking, I want to walk over to him, but James grabs my arm and stops me. "Ali, what are you doing?" He asks me. I get annoyed and try to pull my arm out of his grip, but he won't let go. "I just want to talk to Mitch about something," I tell him, "Don't be so paranoid." He laughs a little, "Ali, I am only paranoid when your face looks like that." I look back at him, "Like what?" "Like you are on a mission and try to hide it, but you suck at hiding it," he says.

He looks like he is joking, but it only annoys me more. "Maybe you just need to let me finish my mission then," I tell him. I try to pull my arm out of his grip again, but he still won't let go. "What's your problem?" I ask him annoyed. "What is your problem?" He throws back to me. I sigh and look at him, "If I tell you, will you let go of my arm?" "Maybe," he says. I roll my eyes, but decide to tell him anyways. I have to tell him at some point anyways.

"I want to stay here during the trip to Los Angles," I tell him softly, so nobody else hears. James scares, "Are you kidding?" I shake my head, "Nope. I think it is the perfect chance for me to stay here alone, without them so I can really move on and have a life of my own." James looks confused and worried. He lets go of my arm, but instead of running to Mitch immediately, I know James probably wants to say something about it.

I was right. "But what about your job? Your job is to help to create the music video, the BangTan Bombs, Run BTS. How will you do that from here?" He asks me. I lift my shoulders, "There are enough people to film these things. I will help from here and maybe already edit everything so we can upload them sooner." "But... But what about your family? Don't you want to see your parents? Or be with us? Won't you even miss us?" He asks. I smile about his concern.

"I will travel to see my parents soon. And we will all stay in touch through FaceTime and texting, of course," I explain. James shakes his head, "I don't like this idea, Ali... You shouldn't change your life because of him." I nod, "You're right. I should choose my own path. And this is it. This is my path." James shakes his head once again, "No it isn't and you know it. You were so excited to go back to LA! You love it there. Do you really want to give it all up because of them? I swear Ali, we will all support you. We will help you avoid him and we will have a lot of fun without them around. I promise."

I smile and feel my heart ache. He is right, I know he is. But the idea of her and her entire crew so close the entire time... I can't handle that. I don't want to see him and her together. I don't want to see them have fun. I don't want it. This is the only way I can avoid it.

"Why don't we plan a trip like this soon then too? Maybe I can come to LA after the entire month and after her and her crew are gone?" I suggest, but James shakes his head right away. "You know that's insane, Ali. Come on, we can have the most amazing time in LA, even if we have to avoid them, you know it too," he says. This time, I shake my head, "I have made my decision. Sorry, James. I am choosing myself, for once." And with that I walk away from him, leaving him in confusion.

As I see that Mitch grabs his stuff and is about to leave the room, I quickly walk up to him. "Mitch, can I talk to you for a moment?" I ask him. He looks up to me and looks confused. "Uh, yeah sure!" He says, "In my office?" I nod and follow him to the hall. Right before I walk out of the room, I look at James. I still see how confused and worried he is. But he doesn't say anything. He just stands there and looks at me as I follow Mitch to his office.
