Part Fifty-Two 오십이

We luckily change the conversation to my parents. They tell me everything that happened in the past months. My dad tells me he got a promotion, but he is not used to his new role yet. My mom tells me they have been looking to adopt a cat. They both love animals, but we haven't had them since our last cat died when she was fifteen. I remember how close my mom and the cat were. My mom was devastated when the cat died. Since then, we never talked about another cat. Until now, I guess.

"Darling, I want to make our famous lasagne for tonight. Will you help me with the groceries and the cooking, just like old times?" My mom asks me. I smile wide and feel the kid in me cheer. Growing up, I always loved to help my mom with the groceries, but even more with cooking lasagne. It has always been something we loved to do together.

"Are you kidding? Of course I will!" I smile wide. My mom smiles back at me, "Amazing! Shall we go get the groceries right away?" I nod and look at Yoonah. She sits on the couch with Yeontan sleeping next to her. I see that Yoonah is watching a cartoon and giggles every now and then. "I will watch our little bean," My dad tells me. I smile wide, "Thanks dad!" "We'll be back soon!" We tell him and Yoonah as we get our coats.

We get into my moms car and she drives us to the grocery store while the radio plays softly. "Darling are you okay?" My mom asks me as we hit the road. I see how she carefully looks at me. I feel happy and sad at the same time. I feel happy that my mom cares so much and even though I already told her I am fine, she asks me again once we're alone. But I feel sad because she is right. Obviously I am not doing fine... I tried to hide it, but she sees right through.

"I've been better..." I tell her. She nods like I just confirmed her thoughts and focuses on the road again. "He really hurt you, didn't he?" She carefully asks. I nod and stare out the window. I feel my tears burning in my eyes again. It feels like I can never stop crying about this.

"He fell for someone else mom..." I tell her. My mom scares. "What?!" She asks. She looks angry and confused and sad. Pretty much the same as I looked when I heard the news. "He fell for some girl who happens to be a new artist... He gave her dance lessons for a while and with that, he fell for her..." I explain while looking at my hands. I hear how my mom scares once again.

But instead of getting angry, like my dad, she puts her hand on mine and squeezes it. "I am so sorry for you, honey..." She tells me. I look up to her and see tears in her eyes. "You didn't deserve that," She tells me. I smile a little and hold her hand with both my hands. "Thank you, mom," I tell her, "It really sucks... Especially since she is here with us..." "She is here?!" My mom nearly shouts.

"Yeah... She and her crew traveled with us to LA and will stay with us for the entire month," I explain. I see how my mom's jaw drops, but she doesn't say a word. Probably because she has to proces everything I just said. "Oh my god..." She finally speaks. "Life isn't going easy on you, darling..." She says softly while squeezing my hand.

I sigh and lay my head against the window of the car. "No, not lately..." But as I take another deep breath, I feel annoyed. This is the millionth time I am sad because of him. During the entire past month, I felt sad and hopeless. But I don't deserve that. I should come out stronger. Like Yoongi told me, I should get back at him and show Taehyung what he is missing. Okay, Yoongi didn't say it in these exact words, because of course he used his wise, sensitive and strong words, like always.

So I change my attitude and try to feel stronger. "Well, actually it is not that bad," I correct myself. My mom looks a little confused and worried. "What do you mean?" She asks, probably thinking I have already gone insane. "I mean, I am here, with you and with dad. Yoonah is with me and Yeontan is with me. But other than that, I am back in LA for a whole month with everyone I love. We obviously have the members, the amazing crew, but also my closest friends Yana and Kaylee. I am so lucky to have all of them here with me," I explain.
