Weeks go by and soon lessons start up again. Yet, with O.W.Ls just around the corner for the fifth years, the last thing they wanted or even felt like doing is spending two hours in the library studying, yet Fred and George have other plans, plans that Lily doesn't want to be apart of.
By the time their first Defence Against the Dark Arts lesson rolls around that week, Lily has already spent all her free time in the library, which is very little due to her prefect duties, which hasn't pleased Fred, George or Angelina at all for the fact that they never saw her unless it was in the great hall, the common room, where she would just be going to bed and during lesson.
However, she reluctantly decided to help Professor Lupin teach Harry to perform the Patronus charm.
So at eight o'clock on Thursday evening, Harry walks into the empty History of Magic class where Lily is in, sitting down at one of the desks at the back of the classroom. "Lily, how long have you been here?"
"Oh, like twenty minutes? I've just really needed to try and get this homework done." Lily tells him.
"Lily, you're putting yourself under too much pressure. I know you have your O.W.Ls this year but you need to relax a little." Harry tells her, sitting down at a table near her.
"Well you try this in two years and tell me how your feeling, huh?" Lily snaps.
"Just like your mother." Lily and Harry hear a voice say. They both look at the door to see Professor Lupin standing there, carrying a large packing case, which he heaves onto Professor Binn's desk.
"Your mother was just like this in her fifth year, but Lily, Harry's right. Your mother had her friends to relieve some pressure off her shoulders and so do you. You shouldn't feel the need to keep to yourself at this time. You should be enjoying yourself and not stress too much. You have time," Lupin says, walking down the room and putting his hands on Lily's shoulders. "Just relax. Besides, if you ever need to talk to someone, my office is always open for you to come and talk to me."
Lupin kisses Lily on her head. "Thanks, uncle Lupin," Lily mutters. "Now, should we get on and teach Harry the Patronus charm?" Lily asks, putting her quill down and picking up her wand before walking away from the desk and pointing her wand at her little brother. "Because you, little brother, have a lot to learn. It will be challenging on the mind and your body, but merlin is it cool."
"Okay," Harry says getting up from the table before looking towards the packing case. "What's that?"
"Another Bogart," Lupin says, stripping off his cloak. "I've been combing that castle ever since Tuesday, and very luckily, I found this one lurking inside Mr Filch's filing cabinet. It's the nearest we'll get to a real Dementor. The Boggart will turn into a Dementor when he sees you, so we'll be able to practise on him. I can store him in my office when we're not using him; there's a cupboard under my desk he'll like."
"Okay," Harry says.
"So..." Professor Lupin takes out his own wand, and indicates to Harry that he should do the same as Lily has already done so. "The spell Lily and I are going to try and teach you is highly advanced magic, Harry – well beyond Ordinary Wizarding Level."
