Tokyo, Japan...
"Agents, while in Korea, we learned that SOMBRA is brainwashing orphaned children," Chief Ripley addresses Adalet and Jack, "we know they're moving the kids from Korea to Japan, but we have no idea why they're brainwashing them!"
"We also found a photo of Ronin that places him in an arcade here in Tokyo surrounded by children," Adalet placed the evidence bag containing the photo on the table, "we have strong reason to believe he's a SOMBRA agent."
"Adalet, we came here looking for him! Hopefully, he'll have some answers for us. We've got to get to the bottom of this before it's too late for those children!" she directed.
"If we want to uncover the truth behind SOMBRA's evil plan, we've got to go where the kids are: the arcade!" Jack determined, "Adalet, it's time to take pole position when it comes to SOMBRA! We're off to the arcade!"
Adalet and Jack drove to the arcade and parked outside the entrance. They walked into the vast room and found it filled with colourful machines with flashing screens and music playing from the speakers in the ceiling. They walked through the game centre, and towards the back of the room, they found a senior in a white suit on his knees with a katana plunged into his chest and out his back. The man also appeared to have a gaping bullet hole in his head, so they couldn't tell which wound killed the man.
As they looked around the room, they found a torn photo on the other side of the medal game the victim had died beside. Hunter also picked up a name tag that an arcade worker dropped on the floor as they left the building. While Jack moved to examine the body, Adalet noticed a keypad on the wall at the base of the staircase to the second floor, but she couldn't see any doors it could open or devices it could control.
"Adalet, did this guy stab himself in the stomach? Is this what's called..." Jack snaps his fingers, trying to remember the word, "hara-kiri?!"
"I don't know, so I'll take your word for it," Adalet responded.
"Wait, there's a gunshot to his head!" he exclaimed, leaning in for a closer look, "and no gun to be found near the body. This isn't a suicide, Adalet! We've got ourselves another murder! And our dead guy is none other than Yuto Watanabe, the oyabun or family boss of the Watanabe-Gumi yakuza organization."
"Good to know you brushed up on your Japanese crime bosses," she remarks, picking up the torn photo, "we're in heavy yakuza territory, and these Japanese gangsters don't play around. Maybe our victim got caught up in some gangland dispute...."
"Regardless, we need to find out what made it game over for this guy so we can continue with our investigation of SOMBRA! Did you find any clues?" he asked.
Adalet held up the pieces, "a ripped-up photo in an arcade full of photo booths isn't surprising, but what's on it could be a lead."
Jack nodded as Hunter approached him, still carrying the badge in her mouth, "good idea, Hunter. That faded name badge could lead us to a witness or, at least, an employee. Let's dust it!"
"I want to see what that digital keypad opens up," the Hybrid tells her partner, pointing to the panel.
"If Loki can unlock it, we'll solve that mystery," the human said confidently.
Jack calls the team to collect the body while Adalet repairs the photo. She taped the pieces together and saw that it was a horizontally printed strip of pictures from one of the photo booths. In the image was a young woman with purple hair and a lolita outfit posing for the camera, but in the last two pictures, the victims appeared behind her, startling the woman.
"This photo must've come from one of those photo booths around here," Adalet muses as Jack walks back over, "the man lurking in the back of the photo is Yuto. But who's that girl with him?"
