Somewhere over the Indian Ocean...
"Alright, team! We'll soon be arriving in Kenya; let's review our operation strategy!" Chief Ripley says, standing in the middle so everyone can hear her, "we escaped SOMBRA's secret island by the skin of our teeth... it's a miracle we got out alive!"
"So. Much. Lava!" Jack groans.
"The island was destroyed, but a boatload of SOMBRA's next-level recruits had already escaped!" she continues, ignoring the agent's moaning, "although we discovered SOMBRA sent these recruits to Kenya, we've no idea why."
"Chief Ripley, I know you and the team don't trust me, but I can help with your investigation!" Michelle insists, "SOMBRA's recruits are trained to work alone. If any of them are in Kenya, we'll only find one. The rest will disperse across Africa!"
"Even so, our best shot is to go to Kenya and discover why SOMBRA sent one of their agents there! Your intel was vital to our success throughout Oceania, Michelle, and I'm inclined to seek your counsel if needed," she tells the lawyer, "however, given your recent association with SOMBRA, we'll need time to assess your loyalties. The rest of you, let's-"
Ripley stops talking as a banging noise echoes through the plane's haul. It sounds like something had pierced a sheet of metal.
"What's that?" Ripley wonders as everyone looks for the origin of the sound.
BOOM!
Everyone grabbed onto their seats as an explosion rocked the plane. Looking out the windows, some could see that the plane's tail was on fire, creating a trail of smoke behind it.
"Brace for impact!" the pilot, Jakobo, yells from the cockpit, "something's wrong with the plane... we're going down!"
"This is why we shouldn't fly commercial!" Jack wails, getting into the impact position.
"This is a private jet!" Carmen yelled back, shielding Sanjay.
"Can you two not fight while we're crashing?!" Adalet orders, covering Ahmet with her body.
The rest of the team brace for impact as the pilots try to force the plane into a controlled landing. The aircraft made contact with something that prevented it from moving but also ripped a wing off, creating a large hole in the plane's side. After the rough landing, the team waited to see if anything else would happen before slowly sitting upright. As they assess themselves and each other for injuries, the pilot stumbles out of the cockpit.
"Okay..." Jakobo pants, removing his headset, "I got us down in one piece, more or less. Is everyone alright?"
"I think we're okay up front?" Chief Ripley answers, looking around at those closest to her, "what about the back, Ingrid?"
"Yes, Chief, it looks like no one is hurt!" Ingrid reports, examining a small cut on Angela's forehead.
"Captain Nkosi, what just happened?!" Ripley demands.
"As far as I can tell, there was an explosion in the engine. Then I lost control of the plane!" Jakobo explains, slightly clueless, "I've brought us down in the baobab tree tops near the Malagasy capital, Antananarivo."
"Wait, you're saying our plane is in a TREE?!" Jack cried, looking out of the hole to see the leaves and branches of the baobab trees.
"It was the best I could do under the circumstances. Now, I have contacts at the Embassy, so I'll climb down and report our crash to the authorities!" he offers.
"I'll come with you, Captain!" the co-pilot, Jasmine, volunteers as she exits the cockpit.
Jakobo nods in acceptance, "agents, my co-pilot and I will be back soon. In the meantime, stay inside the plane!"
