Angela checks the hallway before exiting the forensic lab. Something had been nagging her since they discovered SOMBRA's experimentations in Indonesia, so she decided to investigate her suspicions once they took off for New Zealand. She almost regrets performing her tests, but her results were too significant to ignore.
With no teammates in sight, Angela hurries up the hall to the Chief's office to inform her about her findings. She knocked on the door, and a moment later, the Chief was calling for her to enter. Thankfully, Ingrid wasn't in the office, so Angela quickly approached her boss's desk.
"Angela, what can I do for you?" Chief Ripley inquired, turning away from her computer.
Angela grips the folder with her results tightly, "I've... Discovered something concerning SOMBRA's genetic enhancements."
"Does it involve the young girl whose murder we just solved?" she asked.
"Yes and no. You see, after Elliot discovered that the yellow eyes were a side effect, it got me thinking... about Fili," she disclosed.
The Chief looked surprised, "Fili? What does he have to do with this?"
"Well, when I told the team that Riaja's eyes were yellow, Fili made a comment about his also being yellow," the coroner explains.
Ripley nods, "I remember."
"So it made me wonder, what makes Fili's eyes yellow? Currently, his medical history lists them as a birth defect, but it does not elaborate," Angela says, holding out the folder, "so I decided to run some tests and well...."
The Chief opens the folder and skims the results summary page, "I... I don't understand. This looks like the genetics for Fili's eyes matched the mutated genetics in Riaja's DNA!"
"Which is what I feared I would find," she sighs, "while I don't know what exactly mutated Riaja's DNA, I can say with certainty that Fili's was mutated using the same or a similar formula. It's hard to tell since her mutation was recent while his is much older."
"What are you implying, Angela?" she asks, closing the folder.
"I think Fili was experimented on by SOMBRA just like Riaja and Baxter were," she answers, "I don't know when and I don't know how, but my results don't lie."
Ripley takes a deep breath as she mulls over the information in her head, "are you suggesting that Fili is working for SOMBRA?"
"I... Wouldn't go that far; I don't believe anyone on this team is working for them," Angela replies, "but I also don't think that this is something that we can ignore."
"You're right," she agrees, "for now, tell no one what we have discovered. I will talk to Fili once we land about this. Perhaps there is an explanation...."
Angela nods in understanding, turning on her heels to leave the Chief's office.
After the plane lands in New Zealand...
"Agent Savage, may I have a word with you in private?" Chief Ripley requests, waiting in the takeoff room for the pilot.
"Sure, Chief," Fili agrees, giving his husband a quick kiss, "I'll catch up with you later, starlight."
The Irishman follows his boss as she leads him to her office. Once inside, Ripley took the seat behind her desk and gestured for Fili to sit across from her. He sits down and uncomfortably folds his legs under the chair.
"What's this about?" Fili inquires.
"It concerns the discovery we made in Indonesia about SOMBRA experimenting on their recruits... Specifically, how the recruits are left with yellow eyes after the experiment," Chief Ripley answers, getting straight to the point.
