Chapter 11- Found out

Ava came sprinting into elevator as soon as the doors open, hitting the button for the Ed.
"Connor?" She said in surprise realising they had chosen the same lift.
"Any idea what we got?"
"Multiple victims minutes out, wrong way driver during rush hour" Ava informed him shaking her head.
And the door binged open Ava and Connor where met with the scene before them. Bandages were already being held through, patients were on the floor of the halls being treated. There were people everywhere.
"Emergency response protocol" Maggie called pushing them into trauma 1 " we've done this before you know the drill.
Patient after patient came into the Ed, nurses were run off their legs and blood supplies were running low.

Things had calmed down for a minute, after six hours of none stops diagnosis and assisting in a surgery, the pair had a chance to sit in the doctors lounge.
Ava sat on the sofa with her head held low between her knees. Connor sat next to her, handing her a cup. "Thanks" the breathed, taking the black coffee off him.

Rubbing her back gently as Ava took a few deep breathes. "Forgot how hectic it can be here" Ava laughed lightly. "You know you missed it"
Ava sat up, and titled her head up, "Yeah your right, I do miss beating you to surgeries"
Connor smiled at her through the pain in his heart. "I know about you and Jay, Ava"
He watched Ava's face fell, "What" Ava's voice trailed off, she looked just like how she had the day he accused her of sleeping with his farther.
"It's okey if you want to see other people Ava, but we need to be straight with each other"
"I didn't even know you two were close" Connor added when Ava didn't responded.

"I, yeah. We starting talking a year after I left med. Goodwin introduced us again" Ava said breathlessly. "You weren't meant to know yet" Ava said, her anxiety being to rise.
How did Connor find out? "What do you mean see other people?" Ava asked as her confusion at the situation deepened. What is Connor talking about?

"Connor Ava your needed for surgery, just a general one, minor damage, nothing to bad" Maggie said into the doctors lounge.

"Connor we should talk about what you found out" Ava followed him out of the front entrance to the hospital. The surgery had been a success, but Connor had been quiet through the whole thing.
"I know that you and Jay are seeing each other, or sleeping together"
"There's no issue with you and Jay, Ava" Connor said coldly, ignoring how the words pained him.
"Their is no me and Jay, Connor" rolling her eyes, frustrated at the situation, "I don't know what you saw to make you think so"
"You two having lunch together today, you just seemed, close" Connor replied.
"We were close, about two years ago Connor, Okey, I was just catching up with an old friend"
"And I'm not sleeping around since that's what you seem to think" Ava laughed.

Connor sighed, knowing he had jumped to conclusions. "That's not what I meant Ave, I just thought this was like the first time we had hooked up. When you called it a mistake the next day, I thought you regretted this time as well" he admitted
Ava places a hand on Connors chest, "I don't have any regrets about last night Connor"
