Connor hurriedly walked Ava back inside, guiding her to the sofa, "I'm only 38 weeks" Ava breathed through the pain. "It's too soon"
"Ava babies are born at 38 weeks all the time" he assured her.
"Okey just sit there, I'll get Sophia up and grab the hospital bag" Connor brushed some hair out of her face.
"Okey, grab me a hoodie and some sweats, it's freezing outside and I am not showing up to the Ed like this"

Connor ran off but Ava called after him, "don't run, my contractions are still far apart, you have time"
Connor still hurried up the stairs, grabbing the hospital bag and Ava a pair of sweats and a hoodie.
"Sophia" Connor quickly knocked on the door. Rushing into her room.
"Sophia, wake up" Connor tried to wake her but she nudged him off.
Connor gave up and threw Sophia over his shoulder with her blanket, grabbing a spare change of clothes from her draws. Connor came down stairs to find Ava pushing her arms out against the kitchen counter.
"You okey?" He asks, setting a still asleep Sophia down on the sofa.
"Fine, just needed to walk" she confirmed, taking the sweats and hoodie. Ava got changed while Connor put Sophia's jacket on.
"Okey lets go" Connor confirmed taking the car keys. Ava reached out for his hand, Connor moved Sophias from his chest to his hip so he could support Ava from her side.
Once Ava got to the car she pulled herself in while Connor got Sophia strapped in.
"Do we still have time to go to Sharron's?" Connor asked, hoping in the drivers seat.
"Plenty, but we're going to Hank's not Sharron's"
"I thought Sharron agreed to take Sophia when you go into labour?" Connor asked, pulling out of the drive way.
"But I'm two weeks early and she's in Michigan for that stupid hospital safety conference" Ava cursed.
"Okey Hank's it is" Connor turned the car around.

After pounding on Hank's door for five minutes it suddenly opened. Hank came out in a dressing gown pointing his gun at Connor.
"Woah, woah, woah. Put that away, my daughters here" he scolded him, covering Sophia's head with his hand.
"Connor?, I thought you were some perp. What are you doing here, she should be in bed" he gestured to Sophia.
"Ava's waters broke"
"What" Hank came running over to the car and Ava rolled to window down.
"Bekker are you okey?" He asked taking her hand.
"I'm fine Hank, sorry for springing this on you, but can you watch Sophia, she has a spare change of clothes with her"
"Of course, of course" Hank winced as Ava squeezed his hand as another contraction came on. Hank came running back to Connor, taking Sophia and her backpack into his arms.
"Look after her" he told Connor before closing the door in his face.

Connor got back in the car and drove off.
"It'll be okey Avery" he told her, placing his hand on her knee.
Ava took it and held it, giving it the odd squeeze every now and again.
"We're going to have a baby" she laughed, lifting her head up.
"We're going to have our baby" he smiled, he couldn't seem to stop once he started.
Connor parked in the staff car park and ran around to help Ava out. She stumbled slightly on the icy ground. Connor threw her bag over his back and scooped her up into his arms.
"Connor" Ava protested, not wanting him to hurt his back.
"Avey let me help you, just focus on your breathing" he told her carrying her into the ED.
"It's Ava" he called to Maggie.
"Okey people, baby Rhodes on her way" she called, rushing over with a wheel chair. They brought Ava upstairs and got her settled into a private room.

"Hi Dr. Bekker, Dr. Rhodes. I'm Dr. Barker, and I'll be your midwife for today"
"Lovely to meet you" Ava said, shifting uncomfortably on her bed.
"I'm going to see how dilated you are okey and then see if we can start your meds, okey?"
"Work away" Ava said, pulling her knees up to her chest.
"Is this your first Dr. Bekker?"
"No, my second" Ava told her, holding Connors hand.
"Well we still have a ways to go but as you know the second child will always come out faster" Dr. Barker said, biting her gloves and taking a fresh pair.
"I can't start your epidural just yet, but I can start you on other pain meds as per Dr. Mannings recommendation"
"Stick 'em" Ava stuck her arm out willingly.
Dr. Barker laughed, "I don't blame you, I was in labour for 68 hours with my first, twins as well"
"Thank you" Ava said, taking her arm back after the needle went in.
