A New Sibling (2) (2022)

The time had come, Ali was going into labour again and Dec was once again panicking.

Ali" Dec it's okay, we have done this once, calm down"

Dec" I know I just worry about what could happen, I'm glad we managed to keep it a secret last thing we needed was pressure on us this time"

Charlie then comes into the kitchen. She sees Ali breathing heavy.

Charlie" Is it time, is it time for the baby?"

Ali" It Is, I can't believe it, have you got everything Deccy?"

Dec" I think so, come on then"

Charlie" Anything you forget I could come back and get"

The Donnellys take hold of Ali as they help her to the car, Charlie takes the bags while Dec helps Ali into the car. Charlie slides into the bag and buckles up Isla. She takes Isla's hand and she was smiling.

Charlie" Are you excited to be a big sister, you will be one like me?"

Isla" Is it a brother or a sister?"

Charlie" We don't know Mummy and Daddy wanted a surprise, what do you want?"

Isla" Sister, sister, what do you want?"

Charlie" I would like a brother, I've already got a sister"

Isla then takes Charlie's hand.

Isla" Love you Charlie"

Charlie" Awww, I love you too Isla"

Dec smiled at his two daughters, he was either going to get a third one or a son.

They arrived at and Ali was still breathing, she was having contractions. The nurses pushed Ali down to a ward while Charlie stayed with Isla and played with the toy bricks with her.

Dec sat next to Ali and after two hours Ali was ready for delivery, they wheeled her down on a stretcher, Dec behind her, when they arrived in there delivery room, Dec held Ali's hand. He looked around the room, it was all so familiar, they had been here before, he couldn't quite believe Isla would be four this year and that Charlie would be thirty, time really did fly. He let out a cry as Ali was now squeezing his hand making moon shapes with her fingers.

As Charlie sat on one of the seat outside the delivery room, Isla on her lap playing with a stuffed dog Charlie had got her for her birthday last year. After what felt like a long time, the corridor filled with the sound of a new born baby crying. Goosebumps appeared on her arms and Isla looked at her.

Isla" Is that my baby sister?"

Charlie" Or brother?"

Isla" Sister"

Charlie chuckled. When the nurses leave Dec comes out, tears in his eyes.

Dec" Who would like to meet their new sibling?"

Isla" I would, daddy!"

Dec picks Isla up from in Charlie's arms and she grip him.

Charlie" I'm coming"

They entered the room and Charlie gave a small hug to Ali as she was holding a new born baby.

Charlie" Soo, spill, Boy or girl?"

Dec sits with Ali.

Dec and Ali" It's a boy!"

Charlie" Wow, I got a brother, a brother, one I can actually see, can I hold him"

Ali" Of course, you held Isla, here be careful"

Charlie" Of course"

She holds her baby brother and he gripped her finger, she got goosebumps again and she looked into his eyes.

Charlie" Oh, you have no idea, how much we needed you right now, our little ray of light"

Charlie then hands the baby back as she starts crying. Dec pulls her into a hug.

Isla" Charlie, why are you crying?"

Charlie wipes her eyes. She then picks up Isla. 

Charlie" Nothing, it's just your brother"

Charlie sits Isla on the bed to look at her brother. She reaches out to touch him and he smiles at her.

Charlie" So what's this guy going to be called?"

Ali" Say hello to Jack Anthony"

Dec" Alphonsus Donnelly"

Charlie" Ant will be honoured and you also named him after grandad"

Dec" It felt right since little Isla here is named after mum"

Charlie" Dad, Ali, I love it, look at him he is so adorable"

Later on that day, Ant and the rest of The Donnelly Family arrived to see the little bundle of joy. Ant came in and hugged his best mate then Ali and the boy, Isla and then Charlie.

Ant" Hey Little D, Isla bear"

Isla" Uncle Ant"

Ant picks up Isla and tickles her, she shrieks with laughter.

Ant" Remember when I used to do this to you, Little D"

Charlie"Awwwww, yeah"

Ant" So what's this little guys name?"

Everyone looks at Dec.

Dec" His name is Jack Anthony Alphonsus Donnelly"

Ant" You named him after me?"

Dec" Of course I did after everything you have done for me mate"

Ant" I should be thanking you after what happened to me, love you man"

Dec" I love you too"

Both men hug.

After The rest of The Donnelly Family had seen Jack and Anne had seen her granddaughters and grandson, they were allowed to head back home.

When they got in Ali stepped in.

Ali" Here we are Little One home sweet home, this is where you are going to grow up and we are going to make lovely memories"

Charlie" You two sit down with Isla, I'll make you both a tea"

Ali" Thanks Charlie"

Shortly before 10am yesterday, 23.7.2022, Ali and I welcomed the arrival of our son, Jack Anthony Alphonsus, a very welcome ray of light. He is wonderful and Isla is beyond excited to be a big sister for the first time and Charlie for the second time D x

Second my dads tweet, my baby brother has just been born and he is the most adorable thing I have ever seen. Isla and I are beyond excited to have him in our lives.
