"I'm going!" I shouted downstairs on my daily way towards hell on earth, so called school.
"Taerim, please come down first," was the response I received. I couldn't help but let out a noticeable groan. In the morning hours, a speech of my parents was the last thing I was willing to hear, despite it being in this extra commanding tone."Yeah?" I headed down into the noodle restaurant we owned. My parents made a big deal out of it and basically paid our whole life with it. It's sort of a family tradition. Apparently, it's been in our hands for three generations. Well, after all it do is quite visited. My family is famous in the area for serving the best made noodles. There is just one disadvantage...
"Cancle your tutoring today and help out. Your brother is busy," my mother told me rather sharply. My mouth slightly opened in disbelief.
"Are you serious? Firstly, he's lying. Do you really think he's searching for a job when he failed the last grade once again? Also, do you want me to end up just like him? Guess not, so let me take my tutoring classes," I insisted as the impatience she had with me, clearly spoke for itself.
"Just learn more at home. I don't have money to pay for your stupid brain." This was supposed to hurt. Either way, it went into one ear and exited through the other. Not being worthy enough was sadly something I was used to hear..Even if it came from my own family. According to my brother, being stupid runs in the family, I'd say.Due to her putting the rolling pin down, I've noticed it would be better if I just leave, for my own wellness. I took the main door of the restaurant just meeting up with some seniors who were absolutely in love with eating here every morning. They've been waiting for its opening since my parents made the prices cheaper around that time. "Oh Taerim, how nice meeting you here. How is your brother?" I stopped my tracks. "Yeah yeah very well. I have to unfortunately go now." I put on a smile, really not wanting to hear one particular mention more about anyone else who seems to be preferred over me. The talk would've gone on for quite long anyway, so I better end it now or never.
I fixed my hair in a high ponytail, causing the curtain bangs to fall out. It was my habit; tying my hair up. I always felt more freely since it tends to be annoying if it's all hanging into my face. Had no one to impress anyway.
My school wasn't far away, but I always left home early. It's sort of a thing for them to see if we arrive right in time and if not, I've heard of cruel penalty tasks. I'll skip that gladly.

I arrived after an about ten minute walk as within zero seconds a basketball landed in my hands. "Hey, wait for me in the first break!" I shouted over, throwing it back into the guys hands. I could notice the shabby ball right away. It hasn't been exchanged since the very first time.
"Taerim, you cancelled us for the past days. How are we supposed to trust you now?" He questioned. "Whatever, I promise I'll come. When did I ever break those?" He just waved me off as I continued walking.
Those guys lived in my neighbourhood since the day we moved into our current house. So one day, my dad insisted for me to simply join them instead of always staying in my room. I don't quite remember if I was too afraid or just too unbothered to make friends. Nevertheless, it concerned my parents. They played basketball, so from a very young age we used to do it together. We were somehow friends, they're a year older. I mean, I do feel like we could chat and stuff in that way, but talking about secrets or problems was never a thing for us to do. After all, I still feel like I can trust and depend on them if necessary. They just seem to feel more like brothers, better ones than my real one though.
Entering, I spotted my teacher taking dangerous steps towards me and never turned around faster. "Kim Taerim? Ah, good thing I meet you here." I closed my eyes for a moment before turning around. "Ah yeah, Mr. Cho. What's the matter?" I lifted the courner of my mouth, even if it was just for a second.
