After some talking with Suzie and everyone just talking and laughing and congratulating Max everyone called it a night, agreeing they would all go out and do something together sometime tomorrow. So now Lucas lays in bed with his legs crossed, reading his comic and waiting for Max to get out of the shower.
A few minutes later Max walks in, running her hand through her damp red hair while closing the door and locking it.
Lucas clears his throat subtly, her tight curls is the right kind of damp. He sees that she wears one of his shirts, a dark blue T shirt with a dark stripe at the middle of it, she wears simple night shorts as well. Lucas doesn't know why, but seeing one of his shirts on Max makes him only look longer.
"What?" Max asks, noticing Lucas stare on her. It is different from the loving stares he always gives to her.
"Is that my shirt?" Lucas questions, smiling when he sees Max look down at it.
"Sure is." Max answers, she crawls in the bed, going to push Lucas legs apart to lay in between them. "You don't want me wearing your stuff?"
"No...I mean no I don't mind if you do. I like it." Lucas immediately says, pulling Max closer to him. He wraps his arms around her, his nose going to her neck, breathing in the sweet and fresh smell of her body wash and shampoo. "You smell good."
Max closes her eyes, a soft sigh escaping her when Lucas nose rubs up her neck. She smiles, leaning back into Lucas shoulder, her hands going on top of his. "So do you." Max responds, leaning into his fresh earthly smell.
"Thank you." Lucas smiles, his chin on Max's shoulder. "What do you want to do?"
"Tell me a story." Max responds, grabbing his hand and beginning to play with his fingers once again.
"You want me to read you something?" Lucas questions. "What do you want me to read you?"
"No just tell me a story. Make up something and tell me." Max says while shrugging her shoulders. She likes the books, but right now she just wants to talk to Lucas, just talk about everything and nothing at the same time.
Lucas smiles, wiggling his fingers a little while Max plays with them. He goes to hold her other hand while Max plays with the other one. "Okay..umm..." he thinks. He wants something cheesy, because despite Max saying it is cheesy and he is a dork he knows that she likes it, she blushes every-time, but he also wants something with meaning, something he knows that Max will understand, a analogy or metaphor if you will.
Like Steve said, figuring out his mystery novel which is her.
Lucas smiles, an idea coming to mind. "Alright, you ready?" Lucas questions, his chin rested on Max shoulder, making his lips right at Max's ear.
His voice, his voice so smooth and relaxed. It is like a sweet melody that always never fails to make Max calm down. She would normally close her eyes during story telling even when she was blind, but considering the fact that she just got her sight today she feels like she doesn't want to close her eyes ever again. "Ready."
Lucas tucks some of Max's hair behind her back. "Once upon a time, there was a bird, a lonely bird at that. True, the bird did have buddies, but this bird always felt something was missing in his life. This bird was looked down upon, no one felt like he was worthy of anything, he always struggled with others, but he stuck close to the people that mattered."
Max looks up at the ceiling while she listens to Lucas, carefully going to hold his hand.
"He was fine with the same routine of things, but he wanted something different. He got that wish when he met the wildcat."
